Recommendations for a tattoo/piercing parlor? I'm looking to get a tattoo, but I've never gotten one before and I don't know much about which tattoo parlors in Charlotte...

Made to Last does fantastic work. I haven't had one done myself, but I have seen Jen Small's work in person and it is remarkably good. All other artists there are really solid. Their IG handle is@madetolasttattoo. They're located downtown. As for piercings, avoid Sadu on Central like the plague. Dude who works the front there is a major dick. Piercers are good, but it's almost not worth it to deal with his bullshit.

What type of work do you want done? I'm under the impression it really depends on what type of work you want done who you want to go to.

Like someone said it depends on the style you want. I think the guys at coast to coast are the best around for American Traditional. 510 is also a great shop.

I got my tattoo done at In the Skin in Concord and had an excellent experience. I especially appreciated how well they educated me on aftercare.

Another vote for Coast to Coast if you want American Traditional. Nathan Fish is my go to but all of the artists in the shop are super solid.

Seconding Jenn Small I love her artwork and tattoo style. Also Hayley Moran and Dani Mace@Haylo Healing Art Lounge are wonderful.

Little Jenn is great but so are the rest at Made to Last. Check them out. Go to Sadu for your septum. I've had no issues.
