Psychiatrists in Charlotte, NC

Seriously, this is a problem. They are booked out forever. Thank goodness my child only needed one for a year. But it is almost like other specialties. I needed a dermatologist and it took about 3-4 months.

Chris Lord, Scott Lurie, Allen Melvin, Fred Caudill. None of them take insurance except Dr. Caudill, though. There is a serious shortage of good psychiatrists in Charlotte.

Why do you want a psychiatrist over other helping professions like, say, a counselor?

Carolina Healthcare Systems - Behavioral Health. You call early in the morning to make an appt for a consultation with a social worker who then schedules you with a psychiatrist. It can take 6-8 weeks from initial call to seeing the psychiatrist but it's worth the wait when you need meds. Luckily I have insurance so it's just a copay but I imagine their rates are more reasonable than private practice psychiatrists in the area if you don't have insurance. Their number is 704-444-2400.

Personally, I was not a fan of Dr. Caudill at all. The only psychiatrist that was able to get me stabilized in 10 years was Dr. Christo at Novant Health Psychiatric Associates. I've been seeing him for about 5 years now and he has been incredibly helpful.

The best psychiatrist I’ve seen is Dr. Christo at Novant Health Psychiatric Associates on Randolph Rd. He is the only doctor who was able to stabilize my bipolar. I also have anxiety and alcohol issues. Working with him has been great. He listens well, works with you to find the right treatment instead of just throwing the typical stuff at you. He’s really awesome.

My psych is at Eastover Pyscological. They have a multiple doctors. They’re doing tele health for the time being, not sure if that’ll continue long term.

Monarch has open access model. Should be able to get an intake done and see a psychiatrist within a week. They are doing telemedicine. If you don’t have insurance usually it’s free unless you have very big income. It can be kind of annoying to get started, but I’ve had a lot of people say the doctors and NPs are great. Counselor suggestion is New Leaf on Monroe Road - Logan Cohen. I've been seeing him for a while...nice guy and has helped me tremendously.

Since alcohol is involved, you may want to suggest AA. [charlotteaa.org](https://charlotteaa.org) keeps a list of meeting dates, times and locations and there are tons of them in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. In addition to a psychiatrist/psychologist, I believe that a support network of people who are going through the same thing is critical. I am a recovering alcoholic with more than 20 years of sobriety, and I needed both forms of support to become sober. That being said, the AA way isn't for everyone. Best of luck to your family member, and it's wonderful that you're helping him.

Tracy Latz is the female Dr. Latz. Her husband is also Dr. Latz, also in Mooresville. Tracy is the one who practices integrative medicine.

Dr. Baird is a psychologist and Dr. Overstreet is a psychiatrist. Both are good in my opinion. The only other psychiatrist I know of in Starkvillle is Dr. Aleem at Community Counseling and I personally would not recommend him.

Dr Aleem and Norma kimbrough make a great team. I have seen an awful lot over the last 12 years and they are my favorite. I pay out of pocket bc insurance doesn't cover just to see them. They work with each other also so you get that time and they can really tailor to what you need.

I saw Anna Anderson at the Women's Health Clinic. She was great; I really liked her.
