I use Yard Monkeys for my lawn services, but they do tree removal and trim as well. Call Wesley 667-1055, tell him the chick from Starbucks gave you the number, maybe he'll hook one/or both of us up with a discount ;)

English ivy sucks but trees can be saved if you don't wait too long. Cut the vines at the base of the tree and remove them from the ground about 3' around the tree. Be careful pulling them off that you don't take any bark with them. In this heat the vines will die in a few weeks and you can remove them from the tree or let the leaves fall off on their own.

If you want an ISA certified arborist (not just a tree maintenance company) there are only a couple around. Flacon Tree Specialists, and ABC Tree Service. I just had Falcon (Jason Scott) out yesterday to get an estimate for some work. He’s a very polite, educated, and professional person. By the way, general guidance is that if you want to save a tree, get an arborist. If you want to take down a tree, get a tree maintenance service (like Treeworx, etc). We hired John Nessle (http://theornamentor.com/index.html) to do a walk through of our property with us. He is a certified arborist who doesn’t do any physical work, but only consults. He’s $60/hr, and will walk your property with you and talk about the health of your trees and plants, and give guidance on pruning shrubs, etc. He’s not selling any services so he’s just all about explaining things to you. We really liked him, and definitely recommend him if you just want some expertise and not someone to climb a tree.
