Can anyone suggest a rheumatologist in downtown Chicago? I just moved here and am looking for a new one. TIA!

I went to the University of Chicago hospital to get diagnosed and I LOVED my rheum!

[Rheumatology Associates](https://www.drrobertkatz.com/) at Rush (but not part of Rush) has been pretty great and they were straight and to the point about getting all the tests and scans done when I came in saying I think I might have AS. Dr. Katz has a million awards but I've been seeing Dr. Small instead because it's easier to schedule with him and he's been great too. It's also not too far on the Pink line.

I've been going to the suburbs and definitely need to switch

Oooo. I don't know of any right off hand close to the city, but that's actually a very huge AS support area with many institutes and events based around AS. Good luck

I have an appointment in two weeks at the North Western hospital with a rheumatologist. I'll let you know how it goes.

I personally haven’t found a great doctor for AS. If you wait like 2 months, my mom’s rheumatologist in the suburbs will be moving to UIC XD She’s amazing, so knowledgeable about diagnosis, management, and treatments. Honestly, though, I’m waiting for that, because I can’t get to the suburbs and need a doctor who actually understands AS.

i don't know of ANY. i haven't been to rheumatologist in almost 5 years. i got tired of going in every 3 months for a 10-15 minute appointment that didn't accomplish anything other than making me a $50 copay poorer. when you're living on $1350/month in disability, every penny counts. my pcp takes care of all my prescriptions.

Ruderman@NW - he specializes in AS/Inflam Arthritis/Spondy + kind man After decades of misdiagnoses, within 10 mi utes of talking over my history & symptoms, he left and came back with an AS pamphlet. Ordered diagnostic tests (scans) and was finally DX and I cried and cried, not from fear, but from relief. [profile ](https://www.nm.org/doctors/1871526657/eric-m-ruderman-md)
