Hi there. Can anyone recommend a boarding Kennel for dogs that isn't too far out of town? Thanks

Rolleston - http://www.bunnylodge.co.nz/ (friend's dog stayed there and loved it); Aranui - http://www.homestays.nakeddog.co.nz/ (positive trainers as well); Bromley - http://www.alameda.co.nz/dog-kennel-features (no experience of this place); outskirts not sure where sorry http://www.muddyfootprints.co.nz/dog-home-boarding-xidc87073.html (no experience of this place either sorry but sounds nice).

I highly recommend Kennel Bramley. My dog absolutely loves it there. He has a spinal condition and I am super fussy about who looks after him. My vet recommended them. They are out of town but Christine will pick your dog up and drop it home to you. http://kennelbramley.com/home

This is not a cattery but a pet sit company they come to your house and look after your pet with daily visits or however many you wish per day, they also check the house, pull curtains, clear mail, put bins out, water lawn/plants if required. I've used them 3 times now and they are fantastic! Also good because it's where your pet feels comfortable which is at home. It's listed under www.homesit.co.nz I would highly recommend them never had an issue and they also have a registered vet nurse on hand in the unlikely event your pet needs medical attention. I also got a lovely text while I was away filling me in on my pets day and that all was going well.

Cozy Cats on Ellesmere are great! Very large rooms and a cool 'outdoor' area (fully fenced) that they pop out and around to each day

Does anyone know of somewhere away from the city that may take a dog over the couple of weeks of the worst Fireworks? Not a kennel type situation she wouldn’t do well...
Tracy D. replied:
Hi Narina, it's such a stress for some dogs. Thanks for trying everything you can for your dog. This place might work for him - rural location (Loburn) and has chalets and bedrooms so not the normal 'kennel/run' type. Their home page states "Anxious or shy dogs will find the experience stress-free and comforting." Might be worth giving them a call and going out to visit to see if it could work for your dog? http://www.shadowestate.co.nz/Shadow-Estate/Home.php
Tracy D. replied:
Blair & Natalie (School of the Naked Dog) do more of a home stay and have a bach out at Selwyn Huts - they might be able to take your dog their for the stay. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have other dogs that would like to escape fireworks. They are positive reinforcement dog trainers as well, so would do all they can to help make your dog feel more at ease. http://www.nakeddog.co.nz/homestays.html

Hi Casie, have you considered a housesitter? My partner and I are regular housesitters in the Halswell and Selwyn areas, with over 2 years experience. We would be more than happy to look after your pets in their own environment if you can't find a kennel that you would like them at.
