Hey guys, sorry if this goes against any rules... But since this is a locally-minded space thought I might get some good advice. Anyone know of any community centers...

The Mighty Vine is an inexpensive place for physical workout stuff. I've had friends who went there. It's part of IKRON and is on Vine just south of McMillan. They have Tai Chi classes that I've been thinking of checking out. If you check the website for all the rec centers in Ham Cty it shows (in a kinda clunky format) what kinds of classes and meetings are at the various ones. Big variety and good deal as someone mentioned.

Mercy Health Professional Services on Victory Parkway has sliding scales super low for counseling. Like other places can be a waiting list, but pretty customizable.

It's chilly now, but in warm weather there's usually free yoga once a week in Washington Park. There used to be free yoga and Tai Chi sessions in Burnet Woods too. Both organized, I believe, by World Peace Yoga on Ludlow. Not sure if those still happen. Also check out the YWCA downtown on Walnut, across from the Main library. Really nice facilities, pool, various classes and it's possible to apply for lower-cost membership for less busy hours depending upon income.

Call 558-8888 to reach Mental Health Access Point and they will connect you to a community mental health provider (like Central Clinic, GCBH or Talbert House). Hamilton County has a Mental Health Board which covers all payment for very low income persons (I can't recall the exact amount for a household of one). IKRON mentioned above is a good resource as is the Recovery Center on Auburn and the local chapter of NAMI. Feel free to pm me with other questions (I'm a therapist at a community mental health agency and have been a social worker for 19 years:))

The NAMI groups that meet are pretty great. Just look at the NAMI website to find the list of groups.

Not sure if they still do this, but NAMI will hook you up with a therapist in town for free-they do so many sessions pro bono http://namiswoh.org/information-and-referral/

Greater Cincinnati Behavior Health Services is one of the largest mental health providers in this area. I think you still contact MHAP (Mental Health Access Point) at 513-558-8888 to get started. Most things no cost. Not sure if an official diagnosis is required to get in.
