Michele Morrison, there is a Vet who cuts his fees significantly for rescue dogs. They are in McKinney Texas which is probably far from you but, I believe you would just need to go a couple of times for the heartworm treatment. Here is his website. I don't know the Johnson County area at all to know if there are other vets closer to you who are low cost. http://thepetvet.com/
Michele M. replied:
I called Alvarado and the tech was going to talk to the vet and call me back and never did. I usually use The Corner Vet in Haltom City, but I don't know if they do the treatment or not. I was going to call and ask them tomorrow. Tammy Patchin thank you! McKinney is a bit far, but I'm willing to make the drive for this girl. She is so amazing and I want to give her the best shot at a second chance that I can!
So I need some advice! I recently adopted this dog. When I took him for a checkup and to get on preventatives, he tested positive for heartworms. The vet said it's still...

+1 817-592-3292 Contact this lady . She helped me. We did lazer and chiropractor, at home I did the sling to help him walk I even did water therapy in the bath tub. She showed me how to do the massages and bycicle stretches. . But the medicine they give you is very important make sure she takes all of it and in between therapy make sure she is in a kennel because she will feel ready before she really is and you don't want her dragging herself .. I took mine to Alvarado and they told me that surgery was the only option except to put him down he is walking and wagging tail now back to his old self .it's worth trying I'd recommend it 100%.

If you get to rehome him, please ask new owner to get him Health dog food for sensitive skin issues that can be bought at Tractor Supply. I have a lab that I have had issues with for two years now. Finally took her to another vet in Red Oak that helped my Jade tremendously!!! I know it's tough, right now cold air on her skin is awesome, dry air in the house from heater makes her itch. Food has helped! Meds too!

I applaud you in trying to rehome your dog. Sounds like your hubby just doesn’t care for him. Remind him he’s still a puppy and probably doesn’t feel good with the skin condition. Probably best the dog go somewhere else. A Bravecto from the Vet will probably cure what he has. It’s about fifty bucks. Reach out to Appolo Rescue in Justin and they might take him if you can foster him until he’s well enough to adopt out. Rescues would pay for the vetting and the food. Try talking to your hubby to see if this could be an option. If not then you must do what you have to do but my heart goes out to the dog for he is innocent and deserves a fair chance.
Teresa E. replied:
Amelia if you still haven't found anyone, contact NAVA Dog group. They have a FB page. Message her and she will respond to let you know if she can take him in. She always finds great homes!!! I fostered for her.
