(apologies if there is already a similar post) Does anyone on here meal prep? I'm a pretty picky vegetarian (I don't like mushroom or tomatoes) and I'm wanting to start...
Check out hummusapien.com she posts a weekly vegetarian meal list Personally I just chop up my favorite fruits and vegetables at the beginning of the week (then you could also cook beans/grains) so they're ready to cook each day!
Can anyone share some of their typical vegan grocery lists? I am trying to transition back over to eating vegan from just vegetarian and I am having a slightly hard...

Hey Vicky! Local Matters has fun programs to help kids develop interest in eating their fruits and veggies. Consider taking him to some of their events or contact them and have them do a presentation for his class/school. www.local-matters.org As for the groceries, buying in bulk sections for foods like grain, legumes and nuts can save money.

Also, for those who live in the Columbus area- There is a place called the Produce Terminal Wholesale Market- on 4561 East 5 th Ave (across from the Airport Runway) See Robin Filippo at Unit 10- They are open Tues- Sat from 8 am to 3 pm and offer great pricing on fresh produce- however, they have a limited amount, if any, of organics. They get local produce when in season and Amish foods that are chemical free, but most of what is offered is conventionally grown. Right now they are selling strawberries for $5 a case (8 cartons).

Thanks John. I think I will just have to be more conscious every time I have a craving for cheese! Every time I read Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer, I am reminded of why I wanted to be vegan in the first place, so maybe I'll pick that up again.

This "not-so cheese sauce" recipe is pretty amazing. Tastes just like nacho cheese dip! http://www.vitamix.com/ownavitamix/not_so_cheese_sauce.asp?Coupon=06-002435 For me, the cheese craving went away after a month or so of completely eliminating it from my diet. Reading up on casomorphines and their opiate-like effect on us helps to understand why we crave cheese so much and definitely check out Robert Cohen's notmilk.com website if you really want to go down the "rabbit hole" of just how awful cow's milk is for our health. Good luck with your transition!!

I shop at Marc's too, and everywhere else, they have an organic soup, etc. section as well as some vegan convenience foods in the "dairy" aisle. We do a lot of vegan wraps when we're in a hurry, big salads with fried or baked tofu, and crock pot stuff. Here's a guide to great vegan recipe websites too: http://www.veganconsultant.com/lifestyle-guide/food/get-cookin/

Cathy C. replied:
I think it's actually called crimp bread.:) Super Fresh Bakery in Austin sells it. It's so good. Mom made sandwiches with it for every graduation.

Maybe Bob Oothoudt knows. His dad was Jack.

Tickling a brain cell... Was the Glin store on Kinsman? I remember a boy named David Sievers who may have been a foster child. Anyone remember? Would have been 68-69 now.

Dr. Bard was in the medical building along with the dentist Dr. Izzy Lester. Myt family went to both of them in the 50's and late 60's. Glins looked like the photo when I went there, along with the rest of my Moreland classmates. We have been talking about it on another stream that Chris Dimeglio posted.

We use Heinens for their produce. Then Costco/Trader Joes/Whole Foods for other stuff.

There is an Earthfare in Fairview park. The Giant Eagle on Warren is starting to expand the plant based selection.

Trader Joe’s keeps a list of all the vegetarian and vegan products at the front desk, so as soon as you walk in just go to the service desk and ask for one.
Amazon...I use Prime Pantry for a bunch of the weird stuff I can never find in stores. Agar Agar, Ener-G.... different baking subs. Beats all the gas I waste running around searching for it!
Does anyone have any updates on the Heinens Grocery going into the old Cleveland Trust Rotunda at East 9th and Euclid?

Here's a story I shot, wrote, and edited about "The Nine" apartment/hotel building. It also includes the Heinens store on the old bank rotunda building. http://www.wkyc.com/videos/life/2014/03/25/6887983/

Our Daily Red. Or anything Orleans Hill (Cote de Zero). Mutt Lynch is vegan but I believe contains sulfites. I have a yummy bottle of Frey Red Table wine in front of me. Generally I do organic no detectable sulfites gluten free.

I think not all hard liquors are vegan also ... I just know Smirnoff vodkas (the plain ones) are gluten free and vegan so I stick to that. Oh who am I kidding, I am so boring I rarely drink. Check out Barnivore Jessica Bird it gives a nice overview. Www.barnivore.com
