If you’re willing to spend a bit more than the minimum for a haircut I’d recommend Mike’s on University.
How many barber shops did Farmerville have back in the '50s? I would always get my hair cut at Palmer Dean's. He gave me my very first haircut (that is when I lost my...

Ralph was my brother in law. Some trivia - while going to barber school he played guitar in the staff band of the Louisiana Hayride. He was there when Elvis played his 1 st show. He learned to play the banjo from renowned bango player J. D. Crow during this time. Ralph was a great person. Pirkle Tucker was Ralph & Bobby's cousin. I don't remember him playing music. Boyce Wayne, who we all called Frizzly was their cousin also. He is the brother of my sister in law Mary Lou.

My brother-in-law's first cousin started playing guitar at the LA Hayride as a stage musician at age 15 or so. He went on to back up Ricky Nelson on "Ozzie and Harriet," and then Elvis. Louisiana Boy James Burton is still playing concerts around the world. I'm sure Ralph must have met James.

Mr. Zack Hodge worked with Uncle Palmer for a time after Mr. Cobb died. Then he went to work at Tucker's later.

Paul Chapman became Uncle Palmer's partner, and he bought out Uncle Palmer's interest from my Aunt Marie after his death.

I think Perckle was a Tucker. I do remember the name associated with Tucker's Barber Shop. My Mother Virgie's Beauty Shop was right around that corner behind Turnage's she never had a Coca Cola machine installed in her shop. Her customers went to The Farmerville Mercantile until it burned. Then they went to Tucker's to the Coke machine there.

Wish Uncle Palmer had written down all of his stories. What a great book it would have made!
Does anyone have a groomer they recommend thats good but still pretty inexpensive? I really like the pet barber for regular big grooms (only 3-4 times a year) but for...

I recommend the Pet Barber - Paul and Emilia do an awesome job. They go out of their way for their customers. I am very pleased with their work, and customer service. My Labradoodle, Kingsford always looks great. I used to use Dog Grooming by Karen in Bellaire, however they are so hard to get an appointment, and their prices fluctuate it seems every time.
