Well...Prashanthy. I am sorry for your baby bear being sick. You don't seem to have faith in our system:) I just returned from Manchester, United Kingdom and let me tell you if you go to the A & E there, it would be very likely that it would be a long wait for you before a Paediatrician would actually see your son unless you go somewhere like the Great Ormond Childrens Hospital where they only cater for children. Even if you go to A & E it is likely that you will probably sent home because vomiting and fever, may not count as an emergency (yes...been there !! Done that !!). My baby bear needs a blood test once in every 3 months and it actually takes me 3 weeks for a GP appointment, another 2 weeks for the actual blood test and another 2 weeks for the GP to contact me with the report. So, my personal opinion is that the Sri Lankan Health System is actually far better to me than the British System. And oh one more thing, sure Paediatricians should be on-call 24/7 but people often forget that they are human too. Generally, all A & E Hospitals have Medical Officers and the Paediatricians are called in only when there is a need to do so i.e seizures, dengue, respiratory failure etc etc. Anyways, mommy I suggest that you take your baby bear to your Paediatrician if you have one.

Dear Mommy, I am assuming that you have done the necessary tests like the Full Blood Count and Dengue Antigen. In Sri Lanka, most Paediatricians prescribe these tests when the child is having high fever. Antibiotics are not given to children, unless its absolutely necessary. Lady Ridgeway is the best hospital for you at the moment as it caters exclusive for children. Coming from a family of medical practicians specially Paeds, I do not believe for a second that the doctors at Lady Ridgeway Hospital will scold you for no reason. I do not for the life of me know why people actually think that. Anyways, I hope baby bear recovers soon. Sending you a lot of love, hugs and positive vibes xoxo

Last month my daughter had the dengue. We admitted her to the Jayawardana pura hospital as no facilities at LRH. I can recommend u that place including best doctors & facilities too. Doctor in charge is Proff. Rohan Alpensuy. If not the best place for Dengue treatment is IDH at Angoda.

When it comes to dengue there's no one better than Dr.Lakkumar Fernando in Negombo!! He has a separate ward for dengue !!
