Try Dr Kapila Ranasinghe at Oasis, he is with it ! He is a consultant at Angoda. Effective latest medicine. Have to wait a month for a normal appointment priced at Rs 2,500. Rs 5,000 for a special appt. usually can ask the Dr and obtain on the day. Depends what you want though. Shehan Williams is a good listener. That's about it. He will not change medication if needed. Dr Ramani (cannot remember the surname) is not effective. Dr Jayan Mendis wrongly diagnosed a friend ... If possible try not to take drugs. Try a good Counsellor ! Inbox me if you want me to recommend one and try exercise ! Listen to music. Hang out with mates etc. etc. just get the person out and about. Yet if the person is bad I would say he/she needs medical treatment !

I has ppd and my husband took me to my gyno and who explained that the mother needs alot of rest and also her family's support. Maybe take her out a bit for sokw fresh air. Specially when its the first month and the lack of sleep causes this. If its just the start you dont need to take her to a psychiatric.. Her gyno would do. My pediatrician also helped me alot. Dr Hashir Ariff is great.
Nivendra U. replied:
National institute of mental health has a great perinatal unit. You can also see Dr. Ganesan at Lanka hospitals. A psychologist can help the mother cope. Suhaila Shafeek-Irshard, Giselle Dass
Ashwini A. replied:
Hi, if possible ask her OBG to assess and refer to a mental health professional (psychiatrist or psychologist as the need may be). If that's not possible she can channel a psychiatrist in the private sector who will advise. Another option is to go to the National Institute of Mental Health which has a mother-baby unit and doctors trained to help.
Erin C. replied:
There's a strong network of moms here, many of us have gone through this ourselves. If you want to have her get in touch with me, I can come see her, or we can also include her in baby group meet ups. Colombo Little Movers Group is on FB and she can join directly, or she -- or you -- can PM me, anytime.
Erin C. replied:
She can absolutely also see Dr. Hashir Ariff, who consults at 9 wells, durdans, joseph frasier, and he can direct her to some supportive channels. Thank you for reaching out on her behalf.
Sarah Z. replied:
A psychiatrist is better. Try Dr Raveen Hanvella at lanka hospitals. He's really good.
