J asks:
I'm thinking that my nearly two year old son is in need of a speech assessment. Does anyone know of any private speech therapists who are good with toddlers?...
Dianne B. replied:
J - Rochelle Wallace in canningvale is good but I know she's always pretty booked solid
Melissa C. replied:
J). If you think your son needs speech therapy (?delay) you should see your gp/ child health nurse/paediatrician first. They can make assessments, give advice and make referrals. My 2.5 dd has a delay and we got a referral for public which was great, it's not just the therapy but also other services that you get linked into. All of which is free. I'd try free first because it runs out when the child is about 6 years. My 12 year old also sees a speech therapist and it costs me $195 per 30 mins (in mosman park btw). My advice is to save the cash for when you might really really need it. The speech therapist we see via Freo hospital is great (Fiona) and works mostly with toddlers and has been working with my dd since before her 2 nd birthday. My dd has come ahead in leaps and bounds. Best of luck.

J - I take my 14 month old son to Fleur Hollingworth at Viva Speech Pathology in Tuart Hill, while she is NOR she is absolutely brilliant. My son adores her and I could imagine if I was to leave the room during his session that he wouldn't even blink an eye.
