Does anyone remember having Doctor Frost as a pediatrician in Concord?
Junior V. replied:
Dr Irianna dentist for us poor kids in the sixties.
Beverly W. replied:
The girls loved Dr. Carney. Youngest one still wishes she could go to him!
Bartlett R. replied:
Dr. Penhale was my doctor and Dr. Lambrokous was my dentist. His Hands (before they used gloves) always tasted like soap
Patricia Q. replied:
I had Dr. Lambrukus as my dentist. Funny how he never used Novacaine for fillings and I never felt any pain. And I had a lot of fillings!
Howard T. replied:
Wow!!! Dr Gill....that was a long time ago....I had him back in the 40 s
Patricia Q. replied:
Dr. Gill made house calls!
Nancy W. replied:
- I had Dr Samaha for my dentist. Not Jon, but his dad, Emile,. I remember he had big fingers and I thought my lips were going to rip (no gloves at that time either) and I never had Novocaine either.
Joan S. replied:
I had Dr. Gouchoe
Roberta H. replied:
We had Dr. Penhale
Kristin M. replied:
Dr Douglas Johnson was my dentist on Pleasant St.
Michelle B. replied:
I had Dr. Packard when I was very little.
Tammy V. replied:
Dr. Frost was not kind. While sewing stitches in my head when I was in the 1 st grade he yelled at me for crying. Hello...he didn't numb the area first.
Joan G. replied:
I had Dr Frost! He always called my unruly red hair "living hay", and I thought he gave shots out of spite, but my mom insisted he was "a wonderful Dr who had saved a friends child's life by correctly diagnosing his condition where others failed". I also remember Dr Blood & Dr Pain - funny. Mom saw Dr Potter.
Nick D. replied:
Cathy, that dentist was Dr Freeze. I had him & Dr. Frost.
Mary S. replied:
Had Dr. Gouchoe for my two boys Sean Gordon (the one who started this site) and my younger son, Matthew Gordon. He was a great man. His son (don't recall his first name) worked at the Brick Tower Motel (where I was a bartender) and I remember when he committed suicide. Very sad.
Beverly W. replied:
Dr. Gouchoe was wonderful. I asked him how he felt about motherly instinct to which he told me it was very strong. Didn't take me long to figure out he was the one for my girls. They never showed any of the physical symptoms when they were sick, but I just knew. He never told me I couldn't have an appointment.
Betty G. replied:
I had Dr Gouchoe for my daughter...he WAS wonderful...- although first she had Dr. Gill until he retired...both wonderful doctors...
Angie F. replied:
Dr. Penhale who would come to the house. He was an awesome man
Jane W. replied:
Did anyone have Dr. Packard?? Dr Devito replaced him.
Richard G. replied:
Dr. Lake...
Holly V. replied:
Dr Frost and Dr Ross were the BEST.
Marty S. replied:
Ot Dr.Gouchoe. loved his nurse, Mary.
Marty S. replied:
Dr. Gouchoe made a housecall a couple of times to our house
Karen G. replied:
Not sure who took out mine BUT...I had my tonsils removed at the age of 7 years old in 1964 at the Concord Hospital. I recall being scared after my Mom left that I started to cry and scream the nurse then brought my crib ( Yes Crib) into the hall way to keep an eye on me. I was jumping up and down crying and carrying on when the nurses STRAPPED me down to the crib on my legs and arms. I to this day have night mares of that place and have a scare on my inner right arm to prove what they did to me. Unfortunately mom did not find the BURN until 2 days later and all the nurses denied it was done there
Joy W. replied:
Dr Caroline Duegar (sp??) - wonderful woman!
Jane N. replied:
Dr. Dueger was great - and I was so sad when my mom told me that her 18 year old was killed in the auto/truck accident out in CA. SAD!
Melanie G. replied:
I had Dr. Frost and he scared the crap out of me...
Renee S. replied:
I had Dr. Blood and Dr. Conrad but don't remember anything about either of them lol.
Johanna H. replied:
Dr. Blood was Concord's only surgeon back then. My friend Jeff Woodman had his deviated septum repaired by Dr. Blood. It was very ugly.
Sharon A. replied:
Dr. Blood took mine & my brother Obie's out the same day back in 1960.
Beverly W. replied:
Weren't there two Dr. Bloods? One good and the other not so good?
Sharon A. replied:
that rings a bell. We had Horace Blood.
Shawn H. replied:
I had Dr. Frost for a few years and Dr. Gouchoe.
Rosie D. replied:
I can go back to having Dr. Boucher. His office was on State Street, across form the former Monitor building. He made house calls. (a thing of the past!!!!)
Tammy H. replied:
Now they all have Dr. Wicksman...he is great!
Beverly W. replied:
Dr. Ross blamed my kids' ear infections on allergies - both of them ended up with the T&A and haven't had any "allergy" problems since. He wanted us to remove all carpeting, drapes, etc. from the house. Glad we didn't!
Margaret B. replied:
Dr. Soue.....kind and fatherly....he put medicine in perspective.
Jeanine D. replied:
I had Dr. Gouchoe & Devito sometimes!
Bob W. replied:
My kids had Dr Ross but they would go to him from time to time. They were not happy when he was the one
Nancy W. replied:
- I had Dr Penhale. As a kid, I called him Dr. Penhead.
Sharon A. replied:
Dr. Gouchoe for us six kids. He use to come to the house & say t my parents, "My wife said to thank you," for the new dining room set, or some other piece of furniture. Even for his VW Beetle. Haha. My kids had Dr. DeVito. Altho, my son Adam did have Dr. Frost when he was born while Dr. DeVito was off.
Jane B. replied:
Drs Penhale and Gouchoe and they both made house calls
Beverly W. replied:
We started out with Dr. Ross and immediately switched to Dr. Gouchoe and then Dr. Carney when Dr. G. retired.
Michael A. replied:
My daughter April had Dr. Frost on Wall street. Very nice man
Kristin M. replied:
I had Dr Gouchoe. (Sp?)
Lynn L. replied:
Yes and I didn't like him either! Dr Dueger (sp?) was my favorite!
Johanna H. replied:
Dr. Frost was my two older kids' pediatrician. My son put his bottom teeth through his lip when he was 18 months old, Dr. Frost said "that just doesn't happen" while looking at the stitches both inside and outside that poor baby's mouth. He was baffled.
Jane W. replied:
He was very cool. I had a HMO and had to have him when my other children had Dr Devito. I had my Daughter Christmas night Dec 25, 1991. Dr Frost came in later to check her out and I was sleeping. He woke me up said "She has all the right stuff in the right places, now go back to sleep." lol Then I wanted her ears pierced when she was 3 month sold. I had gone to an auction and in a box I found a beautiful Frost coat of arms picture. So he traded me her ears pierced for the picture. Those were the days!
Johanna H. replied:
Dr. Gouchoe was my pediatrician, he actually made a house call, told my dad I had the Hong Kong flu. I ended up in Concord Hospital with pneumonia at the age of 15. Back then they had oxygen tents, lol
Carol H. replied:
I worked for Dr. Frost in his office from 1965-66.
I live in Albemarle, and Im looking for a pediatrician that is based out of Cabarrus County without having to drive all the way to Concord.

Jimmy S. replied:
Tried both here in Albemarle. Stanly pediatric. with Dr. Johnson is the best. She has always treated our kids like family. She stay till 6:30 on evening till they could get our son checked into the hospital. Extreme dehydration for stomach virus. She wasn't on call but still came by to check on him later that evening like 11:30. If you asked around Concord like we did when we were looking for a new office after we decided we weren't appreciated at Albemarle Ped. Just a number on the chart so to speak. We asked staff at Ear nose and throat in Concord and they recommended Stanly over several of the Cabbarrus county facilities. Just my two cents. Will not say any thing negative about some ones fav. ped. Momma said sometimes better to keep silent..
Andy E. replied:
Stanly Peds! Dr Johnson
Lisa M. replied:
Dr Johnson at Stanly Pediatrics!! She is awesome!! I know her & her family...I use to keep her boys!! They are a good Christian family with Christian values! Barbara T. replied:
My twins have been seeing Dr. Johnson since the day they were born and they are 10 now. Hands down, one of the best pediatricians you will find! Awesome Christian lady. Cannot say enough about her.
Brittany G. replied:

Dr. Barnum/Dr.Johnson. my 9 year loves them. He has been with the practice since we moved here 8 year's ago..my 4 yr old also is seen there. They usually get you in asap. Unless there swamped. We was on vacation my husband both my children broke out with poison oak all over Dr.B called in medicine or them. On several occasions when both kids or whole family was sick she called in meds. for them. I highly recommended them. And I have been to Albemarle & wasn't impressed, no disrespect but we we're more impressed with the toys in the waiting room then the service..

Casey P. replied:
Like a lot of other comments on here, Dr. Johnson has personally-not her nurses or anyone else-called after hours to check on my kids. She is THE best doctor. I wish she was a family practioner so she could be my doc, too.
Maegan C. replied:
Dr Barnum for sure! My daughter ASKS to go to the doctor just to see her! Awesome woman!

Ella H. replied:
We love Sarah Medeiros at Dartmouth for our twin girls!
Carollynn J. replied:
My whole family sees Dartmouth Concord providers. They have always seemed very patient centered... Return calls quickly, plenty of same day appointments, and progressive treatment mentality. My newborn just started seeing Dr. Dick in Pediatrics and have been impressed (I believe she is the only MD accepting new patients but they also have a number of NPs that provide primary care).
Emily D. replied:
Leslie Dick is taking patients at Dartmouth Hitchcock, we just had our first appointment and I liked her.
Rabecah M. replied:
I was not impressed with Dr Dick at Dartmouth at all. In fact, she was so awful I switched to concord pediatrics and love them!
Rabecah M. replied:
Emily - Even though she gained her birthweight back in no time and was gaining weight over all, my newborn wasn't gaining weight fast enough for Dr Dick. She didn't listen when I told her I was the same exact way when I was a newborn too. She was so obsessed w her weight gain she had me come in multiple times a week for the first 2 months. Talk about medical bills! She Suggested I wasn't eating properly or producing enough milk (I definitely was!). Then had me exclusively pump because she said my daughter was burning all the calories as she was consuming them (lactation consultant later told me this was false). Then it eventually lead to Dr Dick pressuring me into having a visiting nurse visit my home multiple times a week to "check up on weight and feedings". Basically suggesting that I wasn't feeding my daughter. She ate proper amount every 3 hours on the dot around the clock. I refused because my insurance didn't cover it yet the office called me non stop to get me to do it. I switched to concord peds. They said as long as she's gaining weight that's all that matters. Turns out my daughter has a milk allergy that may have contributed. So glad I switched.
Katrina M. replied:
We go to Dr. Greenburg at Dartmouth here in concord. I can't say enough great things about her and the other Dr.'s there.

Any recommendations on a good pediatrician in the Concord area? Gotta get to the bottom of what's wrong with Maddy. Don't think we've had a good night sleep in 3 weeks!...
Laura B. replied:
Who do y'all see now? When Hannah had stomach problems as a toddler the only ones willing to get to the bottom of it were Dr Shepherd and Dr Cutler at Cabarrus Family Medicine. Dr Shepherd is at the Kannapolis office. I think Dr Cutler may be in Harrisburg now.
Ashley H. replied:

Thanks for all of the recommendations!! We currently see Concord Children's Clinic. I love Dr. Richards but prefer not to see any of the other docs there. Just don't feel like I'm getting anywhere with the situation:/
I live in Chichester. I am looking to find a pediatrician in the Concord area. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!
Amy L. replied:
Dr Cramer at COncord Peidatrics, she will be out onmaternity leave but the whole office is great, hated Dartmouth
Jennifer E. replied:
I also live in Chichester. We started at Concord Pediatrics and weren't thrilled with them. We switched to Dartmouth Hitchcock in Concord and really like them. Our pediatrician is not currently taking patients but I've heard great things about many of the other doctors at Dartmouth.
Emily C. replied:
We also have Dr. Cramer at Concord Pediatrics we Love it there! They are a private practice, everyone is so nice and helpful and they always give me free samples of the formula we use!
Jennifer B. replied:
I live close by in Northwood. I love my pediatrician. Her name is Susan Thibodeau and she is part of Dartmouth Peds
Jennifer H. replied:
We see Sarah Madeiros (NP) at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Concord. She is fantastic!!! She listens to me as a mom and, more importantly, listens to my children. I'm not much for medicating my kids unless I have to and she respects that and is never pushy. I cannot recommend her enough and I believe she is accepting new patients right now.
Bri R. replied:
Another one here with Sarah Medeiros at DHMC Concord! (I'm in Epsom.) Just switched to her when our previous pediatrician left the office. We had seen her for a couple random visits and LOVED her, so when our original pedi left, it was a no brainer. She's seriously awesome with my boys (2 and 4) and definitely listens to me as a parent without being pushy at all. Jennifer Beach, is Susan Thibodeau an ARNP? There's one with the same name that does see patients at DHMC Concord.
Trying to choose a pediatrician for the kiddos...anyone have a recommendation in the summerlin area?
Sommer C. replied:
We ADORE Dr. Laura Wiedenfeld at Sunshine Valley Pediatrics, however, be warned, she only works part time, so if you need someone ASAP, you might not get her. But we make sure to have her for well checks. The other doctors are great in a pinch though.
Hilary N. replied:
We go to Dr Blair duddy, with healthcare partners. His office is right by mountain view hospital..
