Hello- new to Flower Mound - looking for reliable - and reasonable priced pool service - suggestions - also landscaping company - and vet - thanks !
Mindy N. replied:
Neither Vet at Cross a timbers will suggest things you don't need. Both are great. I am partial to Dr Lock because I am a pet sitter and I have taken classes on pet nutrition, behavior, etc. I have some different views on diet than Harvey, but I would trust him with my pets. I love how Dr Lock respects my training and doesn't talk down to me like some of the vets in the past. She's also the most compassionate vet I dealt with. One of my clients was new to the area and didn't have a vet yet. She had to put her dog down. Dr Lock took her in and treated her like she has been there for years. My client said she was amazing.

I am the owner of No Worries Pool Care, and would like to thank Gypsy Cassidy-Allen for her post. As a mobile customer service company we do not always see what our techs are doing and do rely on a honest relationship with our customers for feedback whether good or bad. Comments resound that we are human and not without faults. However it is how we receive correction, resolve matters diligently, educate ourselves, and minimize future short comings along with regaining our customers faith and trust in us that makes us want to be better both personally and professionally.

Dr Shaffer in FM is an outstanding Vet. His place is a bit run down looking but do not judge by this, he is phenomenal!! Flower Mound Veterinary Hospital972-539-1575. This is his business number. He also does a lot of work with the Humane Society.
Suzanne W. replied:
I also highly recommend Dr Shaffer!!

Beth S. replied:
South Denton Animal Hospital(940) 383-3731 I've been taking my dogs there for 10+ years. It's ran out of an old house so they've been able to keep their costs low. Almost silly how affordable they are and great people up there!
Gypsy C. replied:
I had problems with No Worries Pools. The owner was very nice but his employees were not putting chemicals in my pool and falsifying on paper that they were, they also just randomly wrote down chemical levels without actually testing the water. It resulted in calcium being leached from the plaster and I ended up needing to do an acid wash after hiring a new pool company. I think the owner would have tried to correct the problem but I was so frustrated at that point that it was just better to move on.
Joyce R. replied:
Dr Lock or Dr Harvey at Cross Timbers. They are both great. Dr Harvey does not suggest things your pet does not need.
Abby B. replied:
Doug Holcombe for pools & John Harvey at Cross Timbers for vet
Monique H. replied:
Main Street Vet on 1171 & Kirkpatrick. They are amazing!! We first took our dog there when we had to put him dibs after poor care by another vet. They were so compassionate. Their staff is so friendly and helpful, we have taken out other 2 dogs and a bunny. I can't say enough great things about them.
Tc G. replied:
Bob's pool service, excellent service. We use Bartonville Vet.
Mindy N. replied:

Julie G. replied:
You don't need a tree expert. You need a new landscaper. Maples of any kind are not suitable for our climate and soil. I recommend you check neilsperry.com. Neil is a well-known expert on Texas gardening who has published several books and has a weekly radio program where he answers callers' questions.
Jenna M. replied:
Neil Sperry is GREAT (a certified horticulturist) and it is true that you should never, ever plant during the summer...shouldn't heavily prune either...but a consult with an arborist is also a wise investment. FWIW, cedar elm do great, as do Chinese pistache, live oak, red oak, and burr oak. Post oak are native to the area, but they are VERY hard to transplant and get to grow. Most maples are considered fast growers and therefore, junk trees.
Scott W. replied:
Shumard Red Oaks are native and grow very well approx 65' when full grown with a canopy that offers full shade in the summer. In the fall if we get a really cold streak early the leaves turn a blazing red. I do have a Red Maple that was planted 20 years ago, by my mother, which has dome surprisingly well. Its as tall as the Shumard in the back yard that was planted 3 years before it. Post Oaks are slow growers but they are native also. Some have mentioned Cedar Elms. Not crazy about them even though they are native. When it gets dry, likes its been, they shed their leaves. Depending on how their trimmed they are also prone to cracking and breaking during violent storms. I had a very large one crack and fall in a storm years ago, the 2 Shumard's weathered the storm.
Debra R. replied:
A reputable landscaper should provide a warranty on newly planted trees. If not, find yourself a new landscaper. Someone on this site recommended Wilbur Loignon to me a year or so ago and has provided me good service. He is a Certified Arborist. 214 437 2409 I have a yard full of mature trees and some have had some issues. He just came out and gave me some advice about my cedar elms and has in the past year treated two of my enormous red oaks. His pricing was very competitive with others that I called and I have been pleased with his service. Also, I have 2 maples in my back yard that I planted and have survived and thrived quite nicely. Wilbur didn't plant them but my reputable landscaper, Missy Smits, did!
I am going to be requesting quotes from landscaping companies to sod our front lawn. I am looking for recommendations for companies/individuals who do great work and are...
