Best coffee shops in Dallas? I’ll be spending three weeks in the Dallas/Plano area next month.
Anyone have any recommendations for a good coffee shop?
Thanks!

Some of these might be far from where you're going to be, but these are all good. Might have recommendations if you let us know more precisely where you're going to be hanging out. * [Civil Pour](https://www.civilpour.com/) * [Ascension](https://ascensiondallas.com/) * [Cultivar](https://www.cultivarcoffee.com/) * [Noble Coyote](https://www.noblecoyotecoffee.com) * [Davis Street Espresso](https://davisstreetespresso.com/)

Fourteen Eighteen in Downtown plano is my favorite shop right now. They served an incredible single origin espresso last time I went, it’s consistently amazing coffee. Nerdvana in Frisco is really fun if you want to play some of their board games with friends

If you make your way to the flower mound area, go to Edison Coffee Co. Great place.
BlichaelMuth replied:
Pax & Beneficia in Las Colinas. A new one not mentioned, and not exactly Plano but close. Big variety including Turkish coffee in addition to typical espresso offerings.

Houndstooth and Mudsmith are my go-tos whenever I visit, unfortunately I don’t know much about the Plano area. Most of the specialty shops are more central that I’ve found.
Chris4Hawks replied:
I'm a bit biased since I've worked there for a couple of years, but White Rhino is a good spot. The Cedar Hill shop would be about 45 minutes from Plano but is a nice little coffee house with solid espresso (we use Tweed, same roaster as Houndstooth). There's also another shop in Waxahachie that's a bit bigger and has a solid food menu. Both Cedar Hill and Waxahachie shops are close to their downtown areas as well with some great local restaurants.

I know it’s in Ft. Worth but, Sons of Liberty coffee is really nice. Had a great pour over and amazing breakfast tacos. Also one of the coolest looking shops I’ve been to.

Ones mentioned before are Nerdvana in Frisco makes legit pour overs, possibly my favorite so far. 1418 Coffee House is also one of my favorites. Both have different vibes so try out both. New one to my list [Coffee Del Rey](https://www.coffeedelrey.com/#/) in Plano. They’re an in house roaster that serves really good coffee, and the beans are always on point.

One of my hobbies is trying a new coffee shop in the Dallas/Plano/Frisco area almost every weekend so finally, I have something to contribute to this amazing community!
Most of my recommendations are north of Dallas, more towards Plano/Frisco/Lewisville.
Here are some of my favorites, with brief descriptions:
[Aussie Grind - Frisco](https://g.page/theaussiegrind?share) Aussie Grind is run by an Australian couple who are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They are not affiliated with LDU Coffee (also owned by Australians) as far as I know. The cappuccino here is one of my all-time favorites and, of course, they make a great flat white. This is one of those places where you can come in a couple of times and they will remember you and ask you about your life. Wonderful people. Also, if needed, there's also a great barbershop next door (make sure to schedule an appointment with Catie).
[Houndstooth Coffee - Walnut Hill](https://goo.gl/maps/uqiiCsjXc18aai6z5) There are a couple Houndstooth locations but this is the one I frequent (just based on location). These people take coffee seriously. This is not a place one comes for a blended sugar ice abomination. You'll typically find two options for espresso roasts and two options for brew roasts. All will be delicious. There are usually 1-2 unique coffee concoctions as well (over the summer they had an Arnold Palmer with espresso). The baristas are also uncommonly friendly. Very skilled while remaining endlessly humble and kind.
[The Perc Coffeehouse - Lewisville](https://goo.gl/maps/FgBhrAwPC1jY7BhV9) This place may not be obsessive with beans, roasts, brew methods, etc, but I still find myself returning frequently because they just make a damn good cup of coffee and espresso drinks. ALSO, this is one of the most interesting and delightful ambiances you are likely to find in a coffee shop. The walls are covered in vintage art, neon signs, antique tools, etc. It's almost like being in a museum with comfy chairs and great coffee. There is also an antique store next door that is very fun to look through (no, I'm not an old man, they really have some good stuff).
[Ascension Annex - Plano](https://goo.gl/maps/9gBwgMaUdxZG7U5w8) Don't let the reviews fool you, most of those were posted before the new General Manager took over. Now, I may be a bit biased because the GM is a friend, but this place is worth a stop. The GM's name is Dean and he's there almost every day. If you stop in, make sure to ask for him and be prepared to geek out on coffee for the next 5-30 minutes. Tell him Ruger sent you.
[Kona Reserve Coffee - Frisco](https://goo.gl/maps/7Af8DPU1HaPN1Cfz5) This place is new and is one of, if not the only, place in the Dallas area where you can get 100% Kona coffee drinks. I stopped in last weekend and had a Kona Peaberry brewed with a V60 and it was excellent. The 100% Konas are not cheap, but it's fun to try unique things every once in a while. They also have Hawaiian-style food which was also pretty delicious.
[RE:defined Coffee House - Grapevine](https://goo.gl/maps/NtXiHC3i2yfo2MQJ6) Might be a little out of your way but this place is one of the best for offering unique, seasonal coffee concoctions. Two standouts I've had there are the Rosemary Latte (never would have thought to use this herb with coffee, but they make it work) and the Cold Fashioned (cold brew with a homemade syrup that tries to mimic the flavors of an old fashioned but without the alcohol).
[Nerdvana - Frisco](https://goo.gl/maps/sfmTxweJDfZJzUHw5) This is another shop that doesn't necessarily feature the cutting edge of coffee with respect to beans, roasting, brewing, etc. However, the atmosphere is great. As the name hints, this place caters to gamers. It's a very large space and you can rent/buy every kind of board/card/dice game you've ever heard of and many you haven't. I'm not a big gamer and even I like this place. They also have sipping chocolate, similar in consistency to what you might get in Paris when you order a hot chocolate (it's not Paris quality, but hey, you aren't in Paris). It's also very close to a phenomenal pizza place, Pizzeria Testa.
[LDU Coffee - north location](https://goo.gl/maps/CXtR28m9uzY4fcG68)
[LDU Coffee -south location](https://goo.gl/maps/nS1RKJ4un6SCLnZ66) as hbs2018 mentioned, these shops were started by Australians (LDU: Land Down Under). I've only ever been to the north location. The people were super friendly but it's just too far out of my way to return any time soon. If you are near, it's definitely worth a try.
I hope you enjoy your time here! Feel free to reach out of you have any questions!

If you’re willing to make a short 30 minute trek north of Dallas, Denton has some really great coffee options. I really like LDU Coffee, started by two Australians who wanted to bring Aussie coffee to America. The end result is a super friendly vibe, and amazing coffee.

I'd recommend Noble Coyote. It's in the Fair Park/Deep Ellum area. They are primarily a roaster but open up a little counter during the day. I get my beans from there; they are great!

Haven't seen it posted yet, but Eiland roasters. Not really a sit-down-and-have-a-coffee shop, but definitely a great spot to grab a bag of beanz.

[State Street Coffee](https://www.instagram.com/statestreetcoffee/?hl=en) and their sister cafe/bar/whatever that just opened [La Reunion](https://www.instagram.com/lareuniondallas/) are the best in Dallas. As a former barista working in the area, I've had mixed experiences at the others listed here but State Street has been consistently excellent. This all not to mention that Ali (who is now GM of La Reunion) competed at the national level of the US barista championships this past year.
