Here you may find some pieces for sale if not gone yet. Otherwise there are stores and estate sales. https://www.facebook.com/groups/173367516158717/?ref=br_tf

For budget furniture, dallas.craigslist.org and ikea.com (Frisco location) are the first things that come to mind. If you're going to be in an apartment, a folding table from CostCo with a tablecloth on top is also an option, especially if you have kids. I do know someone who was looking to give away some furniture a week ago - I'm not sure if she still has it or if she's willing to hold on to it - last I talked to her, she was wanting to give it away sooner, rather than later, but if you're interested, PM me and I'll get in touch with her about it.

10 years ago a I had a budget close to zero. furnished an apartment using freecycle.org and 1 or 2 pieces on craigsliist.

It really depends on what you want. Ikea is fine for super cheap/modern looking stuff. Craigslist is hit or miss but worth a look. There is a place called TheDump. It is only opened 3 days a week and it is not cheap, but the furniture is higher end stuff. So you are getting higher end things for mid prices. Ashleys Furniture, Rooms to Go, and others like it are all ok, but many do not have tables sized for a frum family. If you want to borrow a folding table until you make a decision, I have 2 skinny 8 ft tables that I used for a few years as my shabbas table. I just pushed them side by side and kept it covered and no one knew. The absolute best time to buy will be labor day weekend sale.

Good places to buy furniture? I need to buy a new couch. I'm not really into the giant-sized furniture at the chains like Room Store or Ashley, but I'm looking for...

Simply Austin http://www.simplyaustinfurniture.com/ Nice looking stuff for better prices than I've found anywhere else.

Sometimes department stores have good deals. My favorite store is Urban Living, but their stuff can be expensive. I found the exact couch I wanted from Urban Living at Macy's for a couple hundred dollars cheaper. Also (and I know it's hard to believe), Rooms to Go has some decent stuff at a good price. Not everything there is overstuffed. They have some fairly chic looking sofas with straight lines.

I love salvation army. There are 4 stores in the area and they have a constant rotating inventory of gently used furniture. I've gotten some killer pieces there. And it's way less expensive than buying new.
brainsareneat replied:
Try Uptown Modern - they sell midcentury vintage furniture that's pretty high quality and not overstuffed.

I actually had really good luck at Ashley - got a cheap couch discounted and it was back to school tax free weekend. Free delivery and they brought it up to the third floor - don't count out a bigger place because chances are they are more likely to do that for free.
Hello! I'm moving to the Dallas area the first week of July and will be in need of lots of furniture. If anyone is selling or getting rid of things please let me know....
I am looking for a very specific mattress that I can't seem to find in dfw. Vietnamese furniture stores in Houston have this brand, however shipping will be very costly....
