Okay Dallas ladies: Can you please send me your midwife/dr recs for birth? I DO NOT want a Dr who usually chooses to do elective c-sections.... unless an emergency. I'd...

Stacey, I have and two unmediated births in Dallas, and have been teaching natural childbirth education classes for about a year! I had my first baby at the birth center you are talking about, and do not recommend it for friends or birth education students. I'd be happy to share more if you have any questions! There are a lot of great midwives that would support your wishes - are you looking for a CNM or a CPM? Would you like to be in a birth center? Where exactly will you be living? Email me if you want to chat about options, I can send a list of midwives and birth centers! Dodge.claire@gmail.com. And, Congrats!

My doula was Brenda Shumway. She and the other staff at Mothermedoulas.com would be great resources for you. She's been in a Dallas/FW area for 20 years and gives great advice. They also do a lot of pregnancy classes, etc. good luck!

I had my almost 6 mo at The Birth & woman's center on Swiss Ave . I was induced due to increasing blood pressure and loved that I was able to eat, drink, and walk outside in the park, and I labored in water too. I've had a hospital birth too. Hands down go for the birth center! Such an amazing and different experience. Inform yourself by attending some Bradley classes, & doing prenatal yoga. I have friends who are doulas too. Some insurance covers birth centers. Call them and go to a tour. It helps. Good luck!
