Can anyone please recommend a "reasonably" priced veterinarian in the area for my dog?
Dave H. replied:
We use SC Vet on South El Camino Real. They're great and prices seem pretty reasonable overall (although I guess that's all relative...).
Julie R. replied:

Pacific Coast Veterinary has been a life saver! Literally! They are all so kind and excellent to work with. I'm so grateful to have found them!

SC Vet wanted to perform a $1,600 surgery on my pup when it turned out out to just be take some holistics stuff for two weeks that cured a growth on his foot. We looked around and the place that helped rescue him recommended Dr Wheaton. He's not local in San Clemente but totally worth it for us. http://www.mypetsdr.com/about-us/our-doctors/dr-wheaton.html
Sandy K. replied:
Dana Niguel Veterinary Hospital very natural approach and right off PCH heading into Dana Point (949) 661-6375
Lou K. replied:
Well we go and gave been for years to Beach Blvd Pet Hospital in Huntington Beach. A long way to go but worth it to us. They have been caring vets for all our pets over the years. And affordable.

Avenida animal hospital 492-5628
Karen G. replied:
Dana Nigel is surgery happy. They have cost me a fortune. The last time that they recommended surgery, I passed and my dog healed on her own with no further issues 6 years later. I stopped going there. I now go to Esrella, but am not thrilled with their diagnostic skills. I saw Wendy and Mike for the same issues and neither one figured it out...lots of money later. Does anyone know about Deihl? He is close to home.
Adele B. replied:
We live in OC and beach area so vets cost more than inland. Just like a doctor I have my basic vet but have others for any situation that arises the basic vet can't handle. Dr Amin at Avenida is more reasonable than Dr Augustini at SC Vet. Dr Agustini has higher level of surgical skills, high tech equipment but jacked up the prices after his remodel. Pacific Vets are good but pricey. Avenida is good for basic care if you want to stay in this area but if your pet has issues let me know and I'll recommend you to another vet.

We take ours to SC Vet Hospital on El Camino. DR. Augustine is great and their prices are reasonable. And on the weekends they have walk in clinic for vaccinations at good prices.
Becca S. replied:
Estrella Veterinary Clinic. They're the kindest vets I've found here. I've had 3 cats and two dogs very well taken care of there. Prices are less than SC Vet Clinic. I agree, since their remodel...prices went through the roof. Btw...Dr. Wendy is awesome at Estrella.
Anyone know of a really good, low cost Vet? This little boy has a leg injury. :(
Sam H. replied:

Recommendations for a good dog vet that won't break the bank? Also - pet insurance, yea or nay?
Kim H. replied:
ABSOLUTELY on Pet insurance..I have Pet Plan for my furkids. Takes the question of do we spend the money or not, out of the equation. There are different plans, covered at 70, 80 or 90%...different deductibles, 100, 200, etc. Www.gopetplan.com
