Having this bum knee has put a fair bit of stress on the other foot. I think I need to see a podiatrist to see if there may be a bone spur or some such, before I self...

Bruce, I think you have made a good choice. I have had problems after my ankle surgeries; I wish I would have gone to Cleveland Clinic, or even UC or OSU. However, I may have had these problems anyhow due to the freakishness and complications of my systemic osteoarthritis and pain. I am 'tricky'! One local specialist that I do like very much and trust told me that I have to 'reset' and accept that my current state may be my 'new normal'. You may face the same thing. I will say that once I did accept it, I did find some peace. Often Orthopedic Surgeons do not suggest ankle surgeries for older people unless there is great pain. Additionally, ankle surgeries are getting better…new techniques and materials. It changes every year now. When the cartilage goes, the only choice has been replacements. If makoplasty works, it would be a game changer! They have been injecting viscous fluids in the joint space, but that is only temporary, sometimes less than a week of comfort. Good luck, Bruce! I hope makoplasty works! On the plus side, however, is I have collected some gorgeous canes!

I like Wright State Physicians Orthopedics, either on campus or at MVH. Dr. Laughlin performed three surgeries on my ankles. Their Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy department are also very good. Eva Huey, PT, works out of the Wright Health Building ('Green Glass Building') on the corner of Stewart and Patterson. She is a foot specialist. My Grand-kids who are Cheerleaders go to University of Cincinnati and are served by the same doctors and therapists that treat the Bengals. I think this is a better option than Podiatrists, especially since your problem involves the knee as well. Once you have your diagnosis then maybe you can be treated by a Podiatrist.

Yes, Bruce! I've seen Brandon Bishop at Orthopaedic Institute of Dayton and liked him a lot. Down to earth and honest with me.

For feet: Dr. Sunshien, off Clyo., or Dr, Thomas Retzios 2223-2300 - first one did a good job with bone spurs, second one with Rod's broken foot. Sunshien is on internet, may have the name slightly mis-spelled but I think it's right
