Can anyone recommend an inexpensive tailor service in DeKalb? My winter jacket's zipper decided to hold me hostage last night around the neck. Could not get the zipper...

The place near Kingston that was mentioned before could do it. They're great with those kinds of repairs. It's on Rt. 72 west of Kingston, and it's called The Corner Cobbler, 815-784-4452. If the jacket is a favorite, it's worth the $40 to repair it. I did the same thing with my old leather jacket that I've loved for years!
Hey DeKalb friends. I'm in need of suggestions on a place to take some work pants to have some alterations done to the leg length; just need to be shortened a bit....
Angela S. replied:
I have taken Brick and Jordan's pants to be shortened to DKO designs for years. She is in the phone book in Sycamore. I have never had an issue with her and she is usually really quick. I think her # is 815-895-8960. But you should check.

I had pants shortened at VIP Cleaners on Bethany and 23 several years ago. They did a great job. I also met a nice seamstress named Robin who owned her own business called RB Designs in downtown DeKalb.
Darlene H. replied:
I have used RB Designs and worked with Robin for all kinds of things -- from simple alterations to making Amber's madrigal dress. She is great to work with. Greenacre Cleaners also does this kind of work if you have just want to tell them what you want done. Robin will have you try them on and fit them.
Cohen B. replied:
And yes, her name is Robin from RB Designs. Mobile app hid above comments. Looks like she is the one for you.
If you wanted to tailor a nice men's suit, where would you go? in DeKalb, Sycamore...or anywhere within 50 miles?
Recommendations please...
Jake has a suit he needs...
Steve A. replied:
Rita Cantrell is the best seamstress I know in town. I don't know if she alters suits. She made all of our bridesmaid dresses and does alterations for Ruth Ann. Cheryl's (from our class) Mom.
Kristin C. replied:
Reta is the best, but I wasn't sure if she did men's suits. I have never been to Taylor Graphics, but Rachel always looks great too. I will call both to see if they can do a suit for a picky young man ;)

Deb Olsen lives in trailer park my bowling ally she is cheap and fast
Karen H. replied:
Robin next to Eduadordos. She is in Mary Taylors old building! She is an amazing seamstress. Has won many awards and used to work for Larson's Reliable in DeKalb (wedding dress shop). Robin Bolton is her name. She sewed underpasses in my riding pants and has mended several of my items. Great work-reasonably priced and timely!
Kristin C. replied:
Jennifer A Verbic-I have used Cotton Club also. Jake wants his suit in a more slim silhouette, so I am glad to hear they did a good job with that.
Can anyone local recommend a good seamstress for alterations? The one I liked on Second St. closed, and I wasn't happy with my last work from Cotton Club. This...
Jackie T. replied:
Rita Cantrell is great. My mom has her contact info.

Laurie Pommering, sort of next to Affinity Plus on Bemidji Avenue. Closed on Mondays. We use her for zippers, hems, alterations, and they re-lined a sports coat for me. Guess you'd have to come visit.
