I have to tell you a story about Optometric Associates. All 5 of us wear glasses and that's where we went when we first moved here in 1986 l After my son, Michael died i 1992, I got a notice in the mail for him to have his annual eye exam. I called them, stating what had happened and that he was no longer with us. 6 months later I got ANOTHER notice for Michael to have his eye appt. I called them saying to take my son OFF the list since he was no longer with us and they said they would. 6 months later ANOTHER notice in the mail wanting Michael to get his eyes checked. I finally went to the clinic, showed them the notice for Michael to get his eyes checked. This time I told them that I had asked them the last 2 times to not contact me about Michael's eye exams. That I had WISHED that he could be here to get his eyes checked!!! So that was the end of going there! Don't know about the eye doctors but their receptionists don't know what they are doing! So Mark and I now go to Dr. Peterson and he is AMAZING!! End of story.

Judge the doc by the doc - not the office staff. If you have a complaint about the office staff then for sure sure say something to the doc. I had to do that at Mercy Clinic a few years ago because of their horrible scheduling & communication skills that resulted in me & the girls being in their waiting room for...no joke...over 2 hours and another hour in the exam room. I think the girls were 2 & 4 then. What a nightmare. The docs at Optimetric Assoc are awesome.

Dr Warren Peterson on the square

I love Dr. Triebel from Vision Park. She is so nice and very good. Our insurance plan changed and won't pay for anything but Pearl Vision now. I have been so upset b/c we can't use Vision Park. Marina works for the optometrist at Walmart in Indianola and said he is very good and very nice. She highly recommended him. She also told me that even w/o insurance the cost to go there is less expensive than what I would pay after insurance paid. So that is what I will do. Jared and Aaron both need new glasses....and so does this mama.
Annissa C. replied:
Dr Peterson in downtown area of Indianola. He was the one that could diagnose and help Jos when every other dr said there was nothing... South side of the square near Party Palisades.
Annissa C. replied:
Dr Omera was the one that kept saying Jos didn't have anything other than near sightedness and he has an autistic brother! You would have thought he would have tried to understand what was going on. Turned out that if O'meara would have caught it when he was young he could have had treatment but now it is too late. He had a lazy eye and doesn't see in 3D because of it... I changed him to Dr. P when he was in his late teens. Simple test of having him try to grab the butterfly wings in that book they have you look at! Ugh! He always read by peering over his glasses and closing his one eye. He also was always running into things. I told Omera, but he said he didn't see it as a problem. Wish I'd switched long before I did...

Vision exam only? Dr. Anderson. He is very kind, patient and knowledgeable. If there is more than vision, meaning need for ophthalmologist, they will refer you to Wolfe Eye Clinic, who also are wonderful (in West Des Moines).

Dr. Scott rocks. He is a little bit pricey, but not overly. Plus he truly cares about his patients. I ordered contacts a few weeks before my wedding and they were to be in we'll before wed date, but showed up the night before. He drove after hours to my rehearsal dinner to bring me them:)
