When you do end up killing the critters, you may have the death smell for awhile. We had one die inside a wall and it smelled horrible for weeks. Penn Pest will not drive up to Perry County because I called them earlier this summer. Maybe borrow someone's cat? They keep the mice populations down pretty good.

Since you already cut a hole already in the ceiling can you get a mouse trap up there. If so put peanut butter instead of cheese. The peanut butter is food which has a smell . I am not sure if Perry Pest will do mice or refer you to us The CritterGetter. Unfortunately my husband is in AR right now. The other thing are you sure it’s not a squirrel. Right now they can be destructive in Attics
