I am craving a good Mexican restaurant, and not looking for other Latino cuisine, but true Mexican....preferably in Northern Pinellas County. Anyone have any suggestions?

Casa Tina's is the least authentic Mexican place around. There's a few good places on free street between highland and belcher. Anyone of them Is better than casatinas

Sooooooo wish El Gallo food was better because the place is beautiful. My friend said portions were small also. My green enchiladas at lunch were tasty.VIP on the beach is fun but probably more Mex-american. Casa Taquieria on Central Ave makes some good soups. DMexican had a peculiar salsa loaded with raw onion. I asked for hot sauce and the owner offered me a homemade one. it came in the tiny dressing cup and surprise, a buck upcharge. Owner from Peru with two mexican cooks so seasonings more unique. For authentic Mex, I would go to those family owned shops mentioned above - Dunedin. I imagine ...they are more authentic. Honestly Never been to Mexico or TX.

Senior Taco on Park Blvd. They don't try to catch people with their decor. They just make great everyday Mexican food. When you see Mexican families there, you know it is great

I have heard Tequila Mockingbird is excellent but it is on 8 th Ave Pass a grille Beach. Could have a great dinner and a great sunset.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions, I have a few to try now. I had already tried the new one in Dunedin (Carmalitas) and I was also not impressed at all. I have also tried Azteca in Dunedin on Alt. 19 and the food was okay, but thought it overpriced for the quality. Someone I know does not like Casa Tina for the same reason mentioned above, but after all the suggestions on here I will give it a try for myself. I am also going to go to Free street between Highland and Belcher as Christopher Stewart recommended. Also I will try Los Mayas as Cherie Frey recommended. I think anything farther South than that or maybe Largo is farther than I want to drive in our traffic. If I ever do get farther South, it would be a spur of the moment thing, and I don't know my way around St. Pete, so I'll just cross that bridge when the time comes, but thanks again for the suggestions in my area. And now I'm hungry.....hhmmmm!!:)

Any good restaurants on Park Avenue? I remember the Beef and Bottle...

The old favorites are gone, but there are still many good ones on Park Ave. Ate at Panullo's last night--great pizza. 310, Prato, Luma, Blu, Bosphorus, Boca, Cafe de France, Paris Bistro and more...all great.

On Fairbanks (just around the corner from Park Ave.) there used to be a restaurant with marvelous food, The Brazilian Pavilion.

If we are going to expand our area to near and around Park Ave, the list grows quickly! Ravenous Pig, Swine and Sons, Cask and Larder, The Porch, PR's, Cucina 214, Scratch, WP Fish Company...
