Anyone know of any small local businesses that sell pet toys? Like cat, dog toys? Or also have pet supplies? I always go to petco but they always have the same things...

Pet Supplies Plus at 33 and Freemansburg Rd. is a chain, but has more of a feel of a local small business. They have a great variety of things for dogs and cats and also a lot of the "healthier" food brands in stock. If you don't see something, the employees and managers are AWESOME and are always great at answering questions or helping you carry things to your car. Or, if you buy a food or something that your animal doesn't like, you can bring it back for a refund (even if it is open and some used). I am a volunteer and foster parent at The Center and they are a GREAT supporter of our shelter and other local organizations- from donations to allowing us to hold events in their store. They also have good sales and coupons (they accept competitor's coupons and will price match too)! Check them out!
Ok so Quincy needs a bath & his nails cut. Does anyone have any suggestions where to take him???? I used to take him to the pet store on Freemansburg Ave., but he's too...

Your vet will not usually charge you to cut nails or maybe even the SPCA. They have a doggie truck that comes to your house too not sure how much. I always used Animal World.

PSA: just passed a really vicious dog and an owner with little control on the Arts Trail. If you have a dog you can't control, do yourself, your dog, and everyone else...
Dave R. replied:
You passed me and my dog, China. She is not a "vicious dog," but she does have a very protective streak and she is initially skeptical of other dogs. She and I did use a dog trainer while she was a puppy and to be sure, some of her distrust of other dogs stems from altercations that other dogs initiated in playful situations. I am mindful of both her strength and disposition and have attempted (though unsuccessfully) to continue our professional training to address her behavior. Most of all, I appreciate the trainer recommendation. I will attempt to contact Bianca Falbo within the next few days.

Hi Dave, I'm sorry if my characterization of China' s response was inaccurate and/or offensive. I understand that a dog's reaction to another dog may not be their whole personality. I hope you can understand what it was like for me to be on the opposite end of her this morning. As a dog-lover, my first response is never to fear a dog. Her reaction to Boomer was fear-invoking. (I also understand that Boomer's a pretty big dog and that can cause fear in other dogs, especially ones who've had bad experiences.) I'm glad to hear you are working with her and appreciate your openness to the training suggestion. Bianca Falbo really is wonderful. I wish you the best with her and hope to see you again soon. Thanks for your openness here.
