For affordable shoes, I like Chuck Taylors.

Check out this company on KoA for jacket options. I own their 13 th century jacket and it has worked well for me in all the synthetic and steel sparring I have done so far. The only beef I have with it is that it's slip-on so you may look at some of their other jackets there. http://www.kultofathena.com/lordofbattles.asp

Out here in Kron, most of us use Adidas Sambas. They're well designed, light, indoor soccer shoes that have structural design based on Olympic fencing shoes. http://m.zappos.com/p/adidas-samba-classic/product/115191

Bare feet are good from time to time, however as far as footwear goes I've tried everything. Vibrams were great, wrestling boots were splendid, turnshoes were wonderful, here are loads of expensive things on the market that will do the job splendidly. However for a teeny tiny fraction of the price you can pick up some plimsolls/gym pumps/flat soled canvas shoes/whatever you call them and get 99% of the same performance out of them. They'll wear out a bit quicker, sure, but at that price they can be chucked in your kit bag and abused heavily without you having to worry too much about them. For example: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PLIMSOLES-PLIMSOLLS-ESPADRILLES-TRAINERS-CANVAS/dp/B007D5S3MC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1424974903&sr=8-3&keywords=plimsollshttp://www.amazon.co.uk/Canvas-Baseball-Trainers-Womens-Plimsolls/dp/B00KUQHE44/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424974938&sr=8-1&keywords=ankle+plimsolls

You can get the Adidas wrestling shoes for 50 bucks. Thats what I use and they will always outlive those horribly made tabi's. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=22748716&cp=4406646.4413987.4417989.41964786

The https://www.facebook.com/127840041547 YWCA Elgin runs Clothing closet that is free for those with Crisis Center and PADS referrals. Once a week it does open as a thrift store too but very low cost. They always need men’s clothes

Sparrows Nest. They do resell BUT all the money goes to women’s shelters. They do not make a profit.

Elgin Day should be starting to get organized. Free clothes are given away then. Not sure who to call I'd call one of the larger churches to ask.

What's a good place to buy steel toe shoes for women?
Mary T. replied:
I got mine at Red Wing on Barrington Rd in Streamwood.
Gary W. replied:
Red Wing Shoe Store. Top quality foot ware. Specializing in work shoes, boots, etc. They are past 72 in the strip mall east of Spring Hill Mall.
Julie Y. replied:
When I used to wear steel toed boots, I definitely preferred Red Wings. I have also had good luck at Farm and Fleet with Wolverine Brand boots. I think Sears stores have a good selection as well, but you have to go to one of the larger stores. I think Fox Valley Mall and Orland Park stores might have the larger shoe departments.
Bud J. replied:
If you have to wear them all day then buy Red Wing. My wife only wears them a couple times a month for a few hours and bought Walmart shoes.
Anyone know a shoe store that will have no slip grip shoes womans size 5 1/2 - 5 in stock? I hate having to order shoes online or through catalogs and need some new ones...
Deb W. replied:
Red Wing Shoes May be able to help. They also have a store on Randall near Ackman in Crystal Lake.
I have brand new clothing and shoes that I don't want. Do you know of any consignment store around here where I can sell those clothes and shoes?
Jamie G. replied:
Plato's Closet is mostly Junior styles, if that's what you have. Clothes Mentor on Roselle off of Golf buys clothes. There's also one on Randall in Batavia next to the Jewel.
My son wears a men's size 8.5 shoe and is in need of new jazz shoes. Does anyone have any they are selling or know where I can get a pair that big? Thanks-Jamie
