If you dont mind the drive Mill Creek Inn in Buffalo has amazing burgers. We have been several times. It is always packed and busy whenever we have gone late at night on a weekday or earlier in the evening on a weekend. Nice little place right off the lake. Also 2 for1 s every day all day. Also they apparently have the best bloody marry around.

Mucho Loco is my favorite in Elk River. The one we will travel to is El Molcajete in Buffalo. The Acapulco restaurants have gone done hill and they don't carry any good top-shelf tequilas.

El Amigo over by the YMCA is the best one in Elk River. Mucho Loco has good atmosphere but they are fooling everyone with the food. (It's canned and far from authentic)
Kelly H. replied:
Guadalajara in Rogers is the closest we have to Elk River for authentic. Mucho Loco is ok.

Millennium Park. Deep dish pizza-- Lou Malnoti's (brought pizza to John Stewart on the Daily Show this year) or Gino's. Lincoln Park Zoo, Museum of Science and Industry. Buckingham Fountain-- to an evening light & music shows are spectacular. Sight seeing boat ride.
Julie S. replied:
I recommend Gino's East or Home Run Inn Pizza. Oh and Mr.Beefs - best Italian beef sandwiches on the planet! (all of these are in the downtown area)
Kristin G. replied:
Rick Bayless (Mexico one plate at a time, PBS) has three restaurants there. One is called Xoco. Best sandwich I have ever eaten.
Dan W. replied:
Museum Recommendations: Science and Industry or Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium. Walking through Grant Park to see the Buckingham Fountain, the lake front and the Bean - you can walk from the Field Museum to the north loop - it is a great walk with the lake to your right and the skyline to your left. Restaurants: pizza - there are 2 camps Ginos or Pizzeria Uno - I prefer Pizzeria Uno and the setting is more little Italy where as Ginos is more urban. Ed D'bevics is a fun time for kids - 50's style diners with wait staff that are intentionally rude (but fun). You should also get a Chicago hot dog - Portillos is a great spot - avoid the carts - they usually arent selling true Chicago hot dogs. For shopping you should head to Water Tower place - a 7 story shopping mall with a glass elevator and open center atrium. Plus it is right next to the Chicago Water Tower for a little history for your kids. A boat ride on Lake Michigan is a great way to relax and still sight see.
