Geri A. replied:
Jim....listen up The Sellers in the Transaction pay the (typically) 5% commission The Broker gets the commission NOT the agent The Broker splits the commission with the LISTING Agent The Buyers Broker gets 50% of that Commission The Buyers Broker splits the Commission with the BUYERS Agent When all is said and done, after Brokerage Fees, Taxes and Expenses, the agents, depending on their Brokerage agreement, will get their commission. It can be around 1% in some cases. It seems you have no clue whatsoever what is involved in a RE transaction. Do you agree to go away now?

We had a great experience with Frank Davis Jr. / Keller Williams. We used him two years ago searching for our current home for a long time over several counties. Very knowledgable of the process and area -- low-key and not too "sale-sy" which we appreciated. Actually made the process fun!

Jim B. replied:
I apologize for being overly vitriolic. I've had good and bad experiences with realtors (Donna at www.pureenergyteam.com rocked). I've also purchased property privately more than once, so I'm intimately familiar with real estate transactions in MD. My mother was a realtor for a time, fgs. I do, however, have a large problem with the NAR's guild/apprentice system and their monopolistic practices. I think there is a strong parallel between NAR's stranglehold on the home sale process and car dealerships trying to block Tesla's attempts at direct purchasing.
