Can anyone recommend to me a Catholic organization that directly opposes abortion? I'm looking to donate a percentage of my photography sales to a worthy charity.

The Walters foundation in Edmonton.

Live Action is not an explicitly Catholic group, but certainly have many close connections to Catholics. Their founder, Lila Rose, began the group when she was not Catholic. She converted a few years ago and is now Catholic.
Scott J. replied:
For policy matters at the national level, perhaps the national organization with the most effectiveness would be the National Right-to-Life Committee (also, not explicitly Catholic, but many people who work for them are Catholic and they are closely connected to Catholic pro-life groups, etc.). As a national policy organization, they made a decision years ago to not be explicitly religious as a decision to hopefully increase their reach and effectiveness as a legislative policy advocacy organization. They are involved at the national level with many pro-life legislative proposals. Also, another good pro-life policy group that especially works with state legislative efforts all around the country, is Americans United for Life. They are really, it seems to me, becoming more and more key because much of the positive movement taking place in the legislative arena now happens at the state level. And federal legislation often comes from things that were first successful at the state level in several states. And they are a significant force behind organizing state pro-life legislation around the country.

Cristina, Mike, and Heather, this is awesome. I'm going to look into each one right now. Thank you!

Do you know the Community Women's Center of Bucks County? They do great work- http://cwcbuckscounty.org/
Phyllis S. replied:
I'd say Priests for Life definitely if you want activism and education. Then I'd say Lourdeshouse in Harrisburg if you want to help a Catholic agency that is a crisis pregnancy center. I personally like to help pro-life crisis pregnancy centers - A Woman's Concern in Lancaster is pro-life (Christian) and they have an ultra sound and compassionate people who have saved MANY lives. Love to all, Fil

Everyone has already covered it here but I'm involved with the Room at the Inn organization down here (overtly Catholic) and Sisters for Life in NYC are AWESOME as well (met them when they came to NC for the Room at the Inn fundraiser banquet similar to what was mentioned in an earlier comment). Also, Lila Rose is amazing as well...I had the honor of meeting her last spring! Abby Johnson, whom I met at the first Room at the Inn fundraiser I helped with is also another convert and might be a good resource as well but that would be a national vs. the local connection you wanted. Good luck! Thanks to all for sharing these fabulous resources and for the good work you're doing!
