Any recommendations on a GP Doctor who's in tune with the peculiarities of endurance athletes? As time comes around for my annual physical, I'm thinking of switching...
Lonn R. replied:
There is SO much voodoo out (via the Internet) and so much individual speculation via good-intentioned docs that it would indeed be enjoyable to find a certified Sports Medicine Internist who could help decipher what lab values are normal and abnormal and if/when they should be evaluated for treatment. Anecdotally, I ended up doing four sets of blood/urine labs to get a life insurance policy three years ago. Values "appeared" normal on the last one, when I had taken three days off of running prior (that was the only known, changed variable from the other three tests). So, Tato, if/when you find that person(s), holler out.

I've heard positive things about Harold Perez at OMG, although I've never seen him. Link: http://www.oregonmedicalgroup.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/site.physicians/action/dtl/phys/99865629.cfm

Dr Tom Etges is a great GP that works with runners and used to run himself. He also does acupuncture which I find to be a great bonus.
Ladies of Eugene and Gentlemen. Hey darlings. Looking in Eugene for a general practitioner and OBGYN. Any recommendations?
Rosemary C. replied:
I am in the same boat that you are in, Tara, but I did recently learn of Anne Marie Moore, Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner who posted this notice via her FB page: Good news. I can now see patients who have coverage with Oregon Health Plan and managed care via Trillium for gynecology and annual exams without a referral from a primary care provider!!! You can make an appointment at https://www.annemariemoore.com/contact/schedule-an-appointment. Hope this helps a bit!

Brooke Kyle is the best obgyn I have ever met. She works at women's care in Springfield.
Ok FB friends... referral question. Does anyone know of an awesome general practitioner that isn't subsidized by pharmaceutical companies, believes in patient-doctor...
Brenda C. replied:
My folks LOVE their doctor: Dr. Emma Junior at Peace Health Group in Eugene 3299 Hilyard.
Peggy B. replied:
So my primary care person is a Nurse Practionor...she is all of the things you mentioned. Her name is JoAnne Lutz and has her own practice at Healing Spirit Integrative Health Center...is the place where here office is

Not sure about all of the criteria but...Alison Erde, Prevention Plus Clinic, Sprgfd
Rebecca C. replied:
I have been going to Dirk Debreock at River Road Medical since I was early 20's.
Jerry N. replied:
I like Dr. Richard Hansen. He's here in Creswell, his office is called Emerald Valley Wellness Clinic. Maybe Mark knows him? He does flight physicals too. It would be worth interviewing him.
Jessica T. replied:
I recommend Eva Schimdt at Inkwell Medical Group or John Lebow at Mckenzie Family Practice. Both are wonderful but if you are a can't do healthcare without insurance person, you may need to make sure either can accept your insurance.
Kelly S. replied:
Jerry Norcia... I know Dr. Hansen would be awesome, but he isn't covered by my insurance. I don't visit a doctor often, but I am getting to that age that my primary should be under my insurance so I have no excuses not to go when I need to.

Dr. Hassan Ghandour. (OMG on Garden Way- Internal medicine.) They honestly don't come any better. (Not sure how I feel about the office staff though.)
Dustie R. replied:
Dirk Debrokert at River Road Medical Group. Been going to him for about 20 plus years. He's kind of a gomer.... But a great Dr.
Carrie R. replied:
Dr. Curtin, Oregon Medical Group. He's not my doctor but that is who I will switch to when mine retires. I really like OMG because of their after hours clinic. Saves me time and money. They see patients m-f until 10 pm and s-s until 5 pm by appointment, they charge for a office visit vs. Urgent care or ER.
Carrie R. replied:
I just read the other posts. I guess you have to go with Oregon Medical Group!
Maureen Z. replied:
I had Paul Curtin for 10 yrs in Eugene and liked him.
Randy L. replied:
Take it from me, I know doctors, LOL! A good doctor and one other doctors themselves go to and like is Dr. Marie Buscemi with Oregon Medical Group.

I go to Dr. Leslie Mehlaff (out on Barger). She came recommended to me (after my 2 previous doctors either moved or changed practice). I've been going to her for almost 2 or 3 yrs. now. I love her! She is great listener, gives you plenty of time (never is rushed), and addresses every concern. She is in internal medicine. If you want her #, let me know.
Who has a great General Practitioner they want to refer me to?! Mine retired! Silly old woman..didn't she know that wasn't allowed?!
Lindsey A. replied:
Mine retired too! I just got in to Dr Shadi Miller
An W. replied:
DR Perez........River Rd - OMG
Rani C. replied:
My FAVORITE is Dr. Justin Morse at Absolute Health Medical Center. I have never been more listened to with health aches and pains. He is a naturopath, but not all hippy dippy, go eat a twig and you'll be fine. He takes time to hear about symptoms and health concerns etc and fix the problem, rather than just putting a Band-Aid on it. He isn't who you go to for a broken arm, but rather something like joint pain, headaches, sinus issues, stomach issues etc.
