I seen there are good places to eat on the Internet in Fairbanks, but I would like to know where is a good place the locals eat?

Carrie Teeples has an amazing page that always is helpful with deals and sales!
Birchie W. replied:
Fred Meyer is the best place to shop for food.
Lisa W. replied:
Coop Market has the best produce and the prices on veggies are cheaper or equal to Fred's. The fruit is a little pricier than Fred's, but it is better quality. Coop Market has great sales too, not just .20 or .30 off like Fred's most of the time, Coop Market sales are usually at least a dollar off or half price. Coop Market has local products also.

We researched, Fairbanks works better for us. Family of 9. We also have family there too. I have researched the last few years, Anchorage has more shopping and job opportunities compared to Fairbanks/North Pole

Anyone have any grocery tips or strategies? I have been told Safeway is best for produce and baked goods, and for everything else go to Fred Meyers. How does Walmart and...
Michelle R. replied:
Walmart produce is dismal. I only by produce there if it's going to be used within about a day or as a last resort. If you use Fred's, you can link your customer card to a charity (we are linked to Weller Elementary School) and they get a little bit of cash for each purchase. It costs you nothing.
Nicole K. replied:
Safeway is good for meat and common fruits. Fred Meyer: fish, bread, spices and organic products and more exotic fruits and veggies. Walmart is the cheapest place for canned stuff, sugar, flour, frozen goods and everything around the bathroom and cleaning. Sams if you like buy bigger packings. Sageway and Fred Meyer have a bonus system.
