I would get in touch with Kansas City Royals third base coach Mike Jirschele. In his off season job he works for his home town furniture store as a restorer of damaged shipped furniture

Check with https://www.facebook.com/SHWAlaska/ they may be able to run it through a plainer if it is solid wood. If they can't do that they will probably have info on who could fix it here in town.
