Well, Angieslist is probably your best bet for this kind of stuff.
For some unspecific advice though let me tell you -
We just went through some tree repairs ourselves and first we tried to be cheap. We hired some really unknown small "companies" to try and fix our problem and they practically made it worse. After an embarassing multi-day ordeal of trying to get payment and the guys to even *show up* we just gave up on them.
So do yourself a favor and don't try to skimp on expenses too much - it will end up costing you more.
Eventually what we did was call the power company since the trees were growing over into the power lines. They didn't have much aesthetic taste as you'd hope though and now our trees look like broccoli. But it was free, since they're suppose to do this stuff every so many years. So that's one option if your trees are growing over your power lines.

I would use them again. http://www.absolutetreeserviceinc.com/

A few of us on Parklane have used Brandon with Tree Cut (540) 219-2052. They did a great job.
