I need someone to write my second letter for surgery. My current therapist already wrote my first letter. I saw someone else once (Dr. Greg Lehne) and he's insisting on...

Hi there Suzi! So sorry you found Dr. Greg Lehne to be a bad experience for you. I started seeing Greg in early 1986. He was referred to me by the now late Dr. John Money. Greg shook my world. From time to time, he'd say something to me, it would get me really upset. I would brood over what he said for the entire week. I knew in my next appointment the following week, I was going to confront him about it. God dammit! Who did he think he was? And the following week, I would tell him you just said that to get me thinking about stuff didn't ya?? And then the rest of your therapy session goes on where ya now have some things to talk about. This is what they're doing. This is being a good shrink. There was never any sense of malice of any sort. So if you've seen him once already? Finish what you started. Tell him I said hi. I've been wanting to go back to see him as it's been since I got my letter from him over 14 years ago. But I too experienced perhaps a similar situation to yours? I live down here in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington DC. Greg's in Baltimore. So I started seeing this fine psychiatrist, who, like Greg was associated with Hopkins, Dr. Martin Stein was associated with George Washington University and Hospital. Hard to believe I was his first Tranny. I liked Marty. Even bumped into him a couple of times at some local computer shows. I was with Marty for six years. Let's put it this way, I wasn't in a rush for the surgery even though I could have afforded it 12 years earlier. Nevertheless, in 2000 I finally asked Marty, for my letter. The letter I got from him was all male pronouns!!!??? WTF! I told him I can't send a letter like this to Montréal and could he please ask his secretary to write one using female pronouns for me? His response was..." well to me... you're still a man!" Needless to say, at that point, I just upped and walked out. Then you have one of those, what do I do next anxiety attacks. Thankfully, some of us here, are a fairly tight group. I asked a friend of mine who she went to? She went to Dr. Elenor Criswell, in Tyson's Corner, Virginia. I too had to see Elenor more than once. And with what happened to me from Marty, I kind of rather needed those extra visits anyhow. But I dearly credit Greg. I loved that guy. He made a huge difference in my life. I've been to quite a few shrinks throughout my time. And these people pay a lot of money for their mail practice insurance. So I think sometimes it could have something to do with that? Remember, just because you're not crazy doesn't mean that they don't get plenty of crazies. I in fact know that they do. I've emceed for a couple of transgender thingies through the years and I've met these folks LOL. But I did know through case studies, girl, you gotta' go more than once. No I'm not a shrink nor an amateur one at that. However, as an audiovideo production engineer, I've covered some highly regarded medical conventions. And I heard about folks like yourself. Everybody wants drive-through. If you ask a doctor for a letter so you can cut off your Dick? Do ya think that doctor might just want to make absolutely sure they are making the right decision? So, quite frankly, I'm as concerned as they might be. I never found him pompous. And I also enjoyed smoking a joint with Dr. John Money, on the way back to the airport together, in a limousine, after we did the Dr. Sally Jessy Raphael show. Which was a prominent coast-to-coast syndicated TV talk show of the 1980 s. And Greg was his protégé. So you are seeing someone who pioneered this from way back in the 1970 s. And perhaps, they may have " picked up " something, not quite right, about you? You know that's what they are paid to do. And how does that old proverb go? Good things come to those who wait? I worked with shrinks and waited 14 years before I ever asked for any letters. Not sure though that Elinor hasn't retired? So, Martha Harris, in Springfield or Alexandria, Virginia, I forget? She's great! I think she's Dr. Martha Harris today. I knew her when. Mx. Remy Ann Davidwww.crowmobile.com

Suzi, it appears you will incur an expense, regardless, and it seems you are merely seeking to avoid revisiting a therapist which you found unhelpful. If that be the case, there are others in the area(widely defined). Kate Thomas and Michelle Angelo are both sexologist and respected. There are several in the the DC area. YEARS ago, I believe it was in 2000, I saw Dr Chrsitine Henney. Not sure if she is still in practice. Not sure if your surgeon would be satisfied with a LCSW. There are plenty of good ones in the area.
