anyone remember the "Fish Camp Restaurant" on East Mountain Dr.? Remember who owned it? Remember the year it burned?
Billy M. replied:
Fass Bros. was out of Newport News VA.....they were seafood processors and importers.......they had their own fleet of fishing boats. Today, Louie Fass sell Cadillacs and Arthur owns Maritime Trading in Newport News.

My husband's father, Brian Wallwork Sr., owned Lakeside with his partner Mike DeCarlo. Brian Sr. later owned a seafood restaurant in Lumberton. Best seafood ever from some good Massey Hill folks. All the Wallwork boys and some other kids from MHHS worked at the restaurants.
Billy M. replied:
Lakeside Fish Camp was on Wilkes Rd.....the one that burned was on East Mountain Dr......Bill Ratcliff and Doyle Beasley ran that one and it was called The Fish Hook.
Billy M. replied:
I worked at Lakeside Fish Camp from July '67 till April '70...left when Brian went to Lumberton to open Brian's Seafood....was there from May '70 till August '72. Brian Wallwork was my Mentor.....he was my Best Friend and I loved him dearly......he treated me like a son....taught me so many things that have helped me all through my life. He was the Best.
Mark P. replied:
We use to go to Lakeside Fishcamp all the time. Wasnt there another fish place near the VA hospital? Something like Vass Brothers?
Billy M. replied:
Fass Bros. Fish House......open there in the early '70's.....where Hudson Bay is now. Louie and Arthur Fass.
Shayne M. replied:
Fass Brothers- they used to have all you can eat shrimp- my brother could really eat those shrimp!
