I need to pick a pediatrician any suggestions or comments about who to go to and who not to go to?
Carly M. replied:
Crenshaw or Huffman Parker at infants and children
Amber M. replied:
Marissa Moore if you want Dr Freeman at Shoals Peds just let me kno and I kno Freeman on a personal level and can get yu in.
Lakin G. replied:
Dr. Allen or Dr. Crenshaw at Infants an Children is who we use but everyone out there is great
Aly H. replied:
Dr Gunter who is in with Melvin now is good and like kaycee said.. Courtney. She's so sweet
Natalie C. replied:
We use Dr. Melvin at Tennessee valley
Aly H. replied:
not Hammond. He's a good doctor.. But he is a JERK. Like I've got pretty tough skin and he's just about made me cry twice. Dr freeman is great.. Dr Gunter at Tennessee valley is great.
Amber M. replied:
Either Dr. Freeman at shoals pediatric group or Dr. Melvin. Dr. Freeman has saved CJ life a few times! He was my doctor growing up and now he is both of my kids doctors
Aly H. replied:
Dr Melvin is good you've just got to request to see him Bc their office stays so busy.
Melody P. replied:
Dr. Melvin
LeighAnn H. replied:
We use Dr. Colvard at infants and children's and I've never had any problems with him. When Dr. Colvard hasn't been available we've seen Dr. Allen and Dr. Crenshaw and I liked them both very much!! Dr. Hammond is a very, very good doctor but he does have an arrogance about him so just be prepared for that.
LaShaya D. replied:
We use Dr Melvin. We haven't seen him only his pediatrician but they are still wonderful. Very friendly and very tentative to the babies.
Okay moms I need to know what's a good pediatrician who is taking new patients? I'm so sick of Infants and Children's it ain't funny, plus they won't give me any answers
Deborah C. replied:
Dr Rivas at Helen Keller
Mikalani C. replied:
Why? I have infants and children. I only choose them because they are close but there is the Lakeshore Pediatrics in Sheffield.
Will C. replied:
Shoals pediatrics Dr. Freeman and Dr Moore there great
Kierstein V. replied:
Erin Rhodes They say when he coughs his sounds bad but whe hes not the sounds fine, but he has been getting worse and we have been at the doctors office once a week for the last month and just keep getting put on medicines that haven't worked. Mikalani Haulani Che them being close is the only reason I chose them at first too. LeighAnn Hendrix I dont have just one I see every time we go they have someone different see him here lately we've seen the nurse practitioner and he's seen Dr. Allen but I really dont like him, but he's honestly blunt which is a good thing.
LeighAnn H. replied:
Dr. Hamilton is a really good doctor but he's very arrogant. A lot of people choose not to see him for that reason. You just have to stand your ground with him. We see Dr. Colvard and he's been great. Jace had a problem with reflux and that can sometimes make them cough, which would explain him coughing but them not hearing anything in his chest. You just need to go and say "Look, he's got this coughing going on that I'm concerned about and we need to figure out what's causing it." Sometimes you just have to be blunt with them and let them know that you're not happy with not receiving answers. I would definitely ask them about the possibility of reflux though!
Dorenda F. replied:
Talk to Aly Burnett Hooks she had a hard time but has found a doctor who got to the bottom of her baby's problems I think it was Dr Hammond
Kelsey R. replied:
Call Tennessee valley pediatrics. Dr Rivas is amazing
Kayla D. replied:
I love Tennessee Valley Pediatric I use Dr. Melvin
Samantha W. replied:
My son sees Dr. Freeman at Shoals...we've used them since my older sister was born. I hope your son gets better soon
Aly H. replied:
Ask for a referral to Dr. Mahesh he's a pulmonary specialist at north alabama pediatric specialists. He's helped us A LOT with bentley. Also, if you suspect his acid reflux meds aren't working.. ask about an upper GI. They were telling me Bentley had reflux at Tennessee valley and that was causing his cough. Now We see Dr freeman & he ordered an upper gi that showed he is not refluxing at all. So now, we're on an asthma controller instead of an acid reducer and so far I'm thrilled with the results. However we ended up hospitalized last weekend because pneumonia set up in both lungs.. But after the right combination of orapred once we were discharged (they did steroids through his IV at the hospital along with rocephin) for his lungs and singulair once daily, he sounds like a new baby. You are your baby's advocate so stand your ground and don't give up!
Amy J. replied:
For respiratory problems see Dr Allen. I used shoals peds prior to becoming a nurse and working at ICC. Dr Allen really helped Wes with his asthma and we went from being in the hospital 9 times a year to 3 times to none. I agree about Hamilton he's good but arrogant u have to stand firm with him. Dr Crenshaw is very patient and listens well. His reflux is prob what is causing the asthma problems. Make sure to keep him upright at least 30 minutes after he eats. Don't lay him down right after he eats or give him a bottle laying down. Holding up kind sitting to eat. How old is he now?
Okay moms...my nurse practitioner keeps telling me I need to pick a pediatrician so I need to hear your input. I'd like to know who you've had bad experiences with and...
Melissa F. replied:
Dr. Hamilton at infants and childrens is wonderful:)
Kara H. replied:
I went to Doctor Freeman on Ana Dr by the mall. They always have a lot of people there so that's a good sign, but bad because the wait can sometimes be long especially for walk in
Regina R. replied:
Dr Melvin at Tennessee Valley pediatrics is Hayden's
Jordan J. replied:
I had Dr. Hammond all growing up and he was always there in times of emergencies even when he wasn't on the clock he would come in or do house visits
Kaley D. replied:
I don't have any children, but Dr. Melvin was my pediatrician. I loved him and was uncomfortable changing doctors and he let me continue going until I was ready to go to an adult doctor. I went to him until I turned 22... Seriously! I loved him!
Robin B. replied:
I don't like infants and children's because you may not always get the same dr! We use Dr Dinges in Center Star! She is great! With Jax being sick his whole life I kept his pediatrician in bham bc no one we saw passed my expectations! Debbie is great! And I've never been in office more than 45 min even on a walk in!
Ashley S. replied:
Tennessee valley Dr Melvin! He and his nurses are great!
Britney G. replied:
I use Dr. Moore (Meredith Moore's mom) at Shoals Pediatric on Ana Dr. I would not use Dr. Hammond, he was my pediatrician, he's cocky & doesn't listen to your concerns. Dr. Moore has been awesome & she's super sweet.
Samantha D. replied:
I know this isn't for a pediatrician, but just for future reference, do not use Dr. Lentz for a dentist. She's on cox creek over by the Methodist church. I've heard way more bad than good, and had her as I was growing up and I hated her.
Ashley F. replied:
We use Jeff at infants and children's. He's a crnp but has always been great with Adelyn! We've seen Dr Colvard a couple times for a few issues we had about a year ago and he was great! We had a bad experience with Donna Montgomery and requested not too see her again
Ok mommies, any suggestions for a good pediatrician that actually cares for their patients?! I really don't like the one I have now for Aiden. They are so impersonal and...
Tiffany G. replied:
Dr freeman or Dr Moore Shoals pediatrics
Kristie G. replied:
Dr. FREEMAN
Elisa H. replied:
Shoals Pediatrics was awesome when all six of mine were kids. A lot of people don't care for Dr. Hammond, but when my preemie daughter would get sick at 3 am on the weekend, he was there for me. Dr. Freeman and Dr. Moore were great to us also.
Christie K. replied:
I wish Dr. Carter was still here. You would love him. Dr Hammond is a good Dr. Not the nicest man in the world but a very good doc.
Melissa A. replied:
Dr. Kelly in Russellville. Alot of people do and don't like him, however he knows his business. I've seen him with newborn's and pediactrics in the hospital. He's good..
So it's back to the doctor we go! Does anybody know of any good children's doctors around here bc this is the LAST time I will ever take my son back to Tennessee Valley...
Jessica J. replied:
I'm trying to get mine in at Shoals Pediatrics too. They weren't taking any new patients when I called. I went there. Dr Hammond was my favorite there.
Kristy J. replied:
Dr Hammond is absolutely hands down the best Peds Dr we have. But I love everybody at Shoals Peds.
I am looking for a new pediatrician for Zoie. She has had strep throat to many times! The doctors at infants and children won't send her to get her toncels taken out and...
