I have no experience with this office, as we use the office listed above, but this is the only one that pops up when you search pediatric optometrist in FM (I was curious so I searched!) http://www.boweneyecare.com/pediatrics
Lindsey P. replied:
Not in FM but I took my daughter to their office in Southlake and I would highly recommend them. They did a very thourough exam... http://www.pediatriceyes.com/
Can anyone recommend a pediatric optometrist or a regular one who has the equipment to see a 5 year old?
Erin K. replied:
We all go to Bowen Eye Care and love it there. My daughter originally went there when she had a tiny gouge in her eye (fell on the playground and got woodchips in her eye). Anyway, I called around in a panic and they got us in quickly. As it happens, when we were there for that, they noticed she probably needed glasses so we went back when her eye was healed for a well-eye exam. They are wonderful over there. They always explain everything to the kids before doing anything and we've been really happy over there.
Doris Z. replied:
Dr. Beauchamp is great - was able to evaluate my 1 year old for Glaucoma due to our family history of juvenile galucoma so i'm sure they can handle your 5 year old.

My daughter has Stage 3 ROP as a preemie. She has seen Dr. Surdaki at First Eye Care in Carrollton for 17 years. Dr. Surdaki was recommended to us by the surgeon that did my daughter's laser surgery at 5 weeks old. Dr. Surdaki was also the one that caught my failing retinas -- I had been having some vision trouble and went in -- she tested me and found out that both retinas were starting to detach. Sent me to a specialist and they had me in surgery the next morning. She has saved both mine and my daughter's vision!
David N. replied:
Alex I would go to see Stephanie Jones Wilken or her husband. They are off 121 and Denton Tap. They are great! Wilken EyeCare. I'll find their number and text you

We love Bowen Eye Care. Calli goes there and so do Brent and I. We moved Lana over to a pediatric ophthalmologist at her pediatrician's advice because her eyes are getting so bad. Both Drs. Bowen are great with kids and super quick to get you in.

Andy just went to Dr. Ball a few weeks ago and the dr told him the contacts he had been prescribed by his dr in KS were not letting enough oxygen through and his eyes were creating blood vessels because of it. Yikes! I guess this can be very dangerous if not caught early. I was impressed by him. Seems very thorough. And he's super close.
Michelle R. replied:
We give three thumbs up (or would that be 6?) to Dr. Wilken. VERY thorough, patient, and kind. Highly recommend.
Erin K. replied:
Honestly, I really really didn't like Dr Ball. I found him very alarmist and anti-contacts. I was told a similar thing to Brooke's hubby. No optometrist before or since has said anything about it and when I asked, they couldn't see any of the scarring or anything Dr. Ball went on and on about. We go to Dr Bowen and love him. He's been great with Lana whose eyes have gotten a full 2 powers worse in less than a year. I also see him and I'm trying to convince my hubby to switch.
Hi Everyone! Looking for an amazing Opthamolgist. (Not an optometrist). Doesn't need to be here in the Flo mo area. Just want a really good one who is very thorough....
