So sorry to hear this. My sister and my mom both had cancer this year. They both go to Dr. Helfgott. They do a diet called REAMS which gets the body in an alkaline state so that cancer cannot grow. I have also done a lot of research about Essential oils and cancer and have found some amazing studies and testimonials. Be happy to share any info with you

Thanks everyone! I want to clarify that his cancer is super treatable and has the highest survivorship rate among childhood cancers - so prognosis is good! He has cancer of the eye and has already had a miraculous restoration of vision that I don't want new cancer cells screwing up! As far as Dr. Glad I've heard great things but i called their office and it sounds like what he does is mainly Paleo and I haven't heard much research about that diet and cancer. Acid-alkaline diet is what I keep hearing about and makes the most sense to me. My only concern is doing that diet on someone as young as my son - I don't want him to be void of nutrients necessary for development. I'll definitely check out Dr. Helfgott - that sounds exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks all for your help

I would look into a Ketogenic Diet. It's extremely low carb and causes the body to run on ketones, not glucose. This can be beneficial most cancers use glucose for fuel, so essentially you starve the cancer. However, some cancer does run on ketones so you need to check with your doctor. Interesting fact: many oncologists know a ketogenic diet can help cure cancer, but most don't use it as a treatment because they believe it's too hard. I ate a ketogenic diet for 2 years with no problems. I think if you give someone the choice to have cancer or to be diligent with a particular diet and live, they'd probably take the diet. It's a shame they don't provide this solution to their patients more often. There are a lot of articles out there, like this one: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/06/16/ketogenic-diet-benefits.aspx
