My first visits with Dr. Shea I was against treating Gus. Wanted to try a natural path. Dr. Shea looked me straight in the eye and basically said if I don't treat him he could have mental retardation.

The only one I can offer is an awesome pediatric pulmonologist. If he ever has lung issues, asthma, allergies etc Dr. Richard Silver is amazing. Pedilungdocs.com
Amanda D. replied:
OK...I went to Dr. Heidi Shea. Her and her staff were we're not friendly at all. She spoke a lot of untruths to me. The second time I went to her office they took his blood. I explained to them that his veins are too small to take from his arms and wi ll have to darken the room and use a light under his hand. They insisted on doing it through the arm. Well, as they were going in and out with the needle in my sons arms...both of them...they blew his veins in both arms. He was screaming bloody murder and I told them to stop. They told me they were not hurting him and if I had a problem they would send me out of the room. They finally got it in his head. His little arms were so bruised. He wasn't even a year old. After all that Dr. Shea flat out told me that his results would be high. I asked her how she would know that....because he has DS. It took forever to get those results. 2 weeks? His TSH was high...6.7 I think? It had never been that high. I decided to go back to Childrens. I've been seeing Dr. Ham for over a year now. His thyroid levels have been perfect. His TSH is always in the 2 to 3 range. Sorry for the long post....it's just my experience with Dr. Heidi Shea was horrible. She also has some really bad reviews and I believe some complaints filed.
Amanda D. replied:
My personal opinion is that the Dr.'s at Childrens Hospital have always been good. Dr. Ham is who I have now. I had Dr. Stuart also. They have both been very kind. Dr. Ham is very good at answering questions and my fears. She leans toward treating a ch ild with higher TSH levels but she watches them very closely. I remember she also told me that she wants to get to the bottom of why they might be high. That would include some more extensive blood tests. Children's has been great at taking Sammy's blood. When I go into the lab I just tell them the situation and they get a specialist in and take his blood. I'm in and I'm out.

Dr. Ellen Sher is her name.
Candice C. replied:
We see dr. Teena Thomas with cook children's.
Myra A. replied:
Our 4 children see Dr. Kimberly Matlock in Keller with Cooks
Marissa M. replied:
Thank you everyone! Dr. Wilson at Cook's today made it sound like my son should not be able to even have thyroid therapy as an option which is against what the American Academy of Pediatrics says. He basically said that although not doing therapy Won't have adverse affects (which is mental retardation if thyroid goes untreated) because he already has Down syndrome. I was angry.
A little heart problem: I'm not a huge Facebook fan, but one of the things that really stands out and one of the things I really LIKE about it is it's ability to share...

Also look up cardiologists at hospitals connected with Texas Health Resources.
Does anyone know of a good cardiologist in either the Weatherford, Ft Worth or surrounding area? Thank you I'm in need of one..Any suggestions would be appreciated :)
Debbie C. replied:
If you r close to Dallas look up Dr Bruce Bowers with Dallas Heart Group. He's the best in my opinion that's in this area. If closer to Ft Worth tho as I am, the best I've found is Dr. Farhan Ali, 817.334.2800, he also has an office in Burleson. I really like Dr Ali.
Our boy, Benson. He's 7 & has been a wonderful part of our lives each day since he was rescued at 3 weeks old from a puppy mill & adopted to us. Poor baby has had a lot...
Carol H. replied:
Lindsi, bless you for all you have done for Benson. My Max has a grade 4 murmur and sees a cardiologist in Grapevine, Nicole Culwell. Several other DFWCKCS members use her as well. I think she is great and have a lot of confidence in her. Her phone number is 682.223.9770. With the right care and medication, Benson could be with you for several more years. Prayers for your baby.
Sarah R. replied:
I too have used Dr. Cullwell with my Kingston pup and think she great! She will take the time to answer every question you have.... Prepare yourself though bc you may not like the answer but you are going to her for a clear picture of what is going on and she tells you what is going on throughly. She gets booked way in advanced but she told me that they basically red flag any cavaliers' files that come in... And then they will review them and determine if he needs to be seen sooner. That is what happened in my Kingston pup's case. I can't tell you not to worry bc we all worry about our babies no matter what the issue. But he will be great hands with Dr Cullwell and just as Carol said above with the right care and possible medication there could be several years ahead for sweet Benson! Keep us posted! Hugs to you and Benson!!
I have been to Dr. Hadden with cardiology associates. Loved him. I had tachycardia three years ago when my thyroid was outa whack!! My PCP sent me to him. He was great.
