Unfortunately, Dr. Melrose is not the vet he was 15 years ago. We recently had an emergency situation where my dog of 15 years health was suffering terribly. Dr. Melrose took care of my dog for 15 years. On her last day on this earth Dr. Melrose said h e'd do a house call and come to my house after 7 pm but if he comes he will not assess my dog he will automatically put her down to sleep. I'm sorry but what person let alone a vet say "if I'm coming to your home I'm not assessing to see how sick she is I'm putting her to sleep". Either way Dr. Melrose never showed up. We offered to pay whatever he wanted just to make the 4 minute drive to our home. After hours of my poor dog suffering waiting for Dr Melrose he never came. Thankfully Dr. Hal was sent to us and did a house call. Dr. Hal's compassion for animals that night surpassed Dr. Melrose by far. You'd think after 15 years being in this line of work this wouldn't have happened. As a stranger put my dog down you could see the fear in her eyes. Dr. Melrose' presence would've eased my dogs fears I'm sure. Sorry to go on a rant but this isn't the first time Dr. Melrose has done this. He's not the Dr he once was. Dr. Hal on the other hand was born to be a vet. Anyway, I don't know if this is helpful to you but if I were you I wouldn't go to Dr. Melrose

For years I have gone to New Hyde Park Animal Hospital on Jericho Tpke. They are so caring.

Quality Vet Dr. Mehlrose he is the only vet we will use. When we moved to MA a few years back we still drove down for him to care for our dogs. Now he is taking care of our newest pup and has been great.

Franklin Square Vet is great. They took great care of my Lucky for 15 years and are terrific with our ELLIE now. We can highly recommend them, too.

I can tell you which one not to go to: Hilton Animal Hospital in Lynbrook. I am looking for a new vet also. The only thing I didn't like about Quality was that they gave my dog a 1 year rabies shot and told me that it has to be given every year which is not true and the floor in the room had blood on it. Good luck!

Another vote for Jefferson Animal Hospital. Dr. Brian and Dr. Jeff are amazing. I had a similar experience as Lisanne but with Dr. Brian taking me into the back and showing me first hand what he was talking about. I would never go anywhere else with my babies. Love them there!

Mineola Animal Hospital - Dr Kolins. They board animals as well. My friend is one of the vets wives & I've seen them walking & playing with the animals for boarding often when I stop by to visit.
