Looking for clothing for my wife, F&I to the Revolution. Any suggestions of who or where to buy?

Hey Chris Osinski, are you sure it is sillysister.com, I get nothing from that, lol

I second Historic Threads. Heather is awesome. She made both of my shortgowns for a fraction of the cost that most seamstresses charge. I also got my shift from her. https://www.etsy.com/shop/historicthreads?ref=shop_sugg Starting out, your wife will only need a petticoat, stockings, cap, apron, shift, and a short gown or bed gown. She could probably make the petticoat on her own. It's super easy using directions online. I have zero sewing skills but I've made my own petticoats and they've turned out well every time. Stays and proper shoes can come later. Most women work in camp and don't need the fitted silhouette of the period until later or just for special occasions. I was in the hobby for nearly a year before buying shoes and nearly two years before buying stays and that was only because I wanted to actually have a waist again! Good luck.

Larry she will need a shift ( linen is most comfortable). Stays, at least 2 petticoats, a gown, bedgown/short gown may be worn for informal wear, also a neck handkerchief, cap, hat, stockings, shoes, apron. Does she sew? There are many patterns available from sutlers who also sell material correct for the periods you mention. There are sutlers like www.silly sisters.com who make clothing to size. Of course there are some differences in fashion between the 1750's and mid 1770's. Also differences in geographic areas as well as cultures.
