Pete Duvall shots Ani Kasten's work. Check out her website. She did say you need to take the work to him which is a huge problem for me.

I've used Pete Duvall (Anything Photographic) for years. He is terrific. I know my work is hard to shoot, but he alway manages, is reasonably priced, and a pleasure to work with.

Hello Jessica Travis. I represent Rachael Mizzer Photography and I am a budget friendly photographer offering a variety of packages to suit different levels of service and budgets. While I cannot service your event for under $100, I do have some smaller packages designed for intimate weddings that will be fairly close to your budget. Best news is I only require a $50 retainer which becomes a deposit after the wedding is finished and you don't have to pay the final balance until after the wedding is over. I find that usually gives my clients some cushion when they are on a tight budget. Don't sacrifice the one thing that will truly last after the rest is over by going with someone who is barely on the map of photography. But you also don't have to go with a super experienced photographer with tons of equipment and average rates either. I might just be the perfect match for the quality and budget you are looking for. Not sure what your date is but if I am available, I would love to speak with you and get you an estimate. Feel free to check out my FB photography page for samples of my work and message me with any questions, big or small. :) https://www.facebook.com/RachaelMizzerPhotography

Karen R. replied:
Jessica Travis in the blog I linked above I gave a list at the end of questions to ask the photog. There is a huge range of prices for pro quality work, so I can't give you an easy answer for that. For instance, one of the first weddings I shot, I charged $400 for 8 hours because I was portfolio building. Another that year I shot for $1000. Now my prices start MUCH higher . There's nothing saying you can't find someone who can do a decent job for your price range. However, it will be harder to find, and it is really important that you make sure whoever you hire has some basic things in place: liability insurance, is a legal business (collects sales tax etc), has a backup camera and equipment, knows how to use OCF and shoots in RAW, and knows how to edit with professional programs. Sadly, since photography is an industry where no real training is required, anyone can buy a fancy camera and call themself a photographer. Most of these people are still using their camera on auto just like the average person, and as such have no business shooting weddings where once in a lifetime moments could be missed. Everyone starts somewhere but I feel that a certain level of education is necessary to effectively photograph a wedding as a pro. On the otherhand, it's fine if you want to hire a hobbyist photographer to shoot your wedding, but just be careful, and make sure they have backup equipment and know how to shoot in all light situations, etc, because you won't realize how important those photos are until someone misses or ruins important moments. The blog is long but worth it to help you narrow down the field.:)

Hi Allison Needleman Stein . My company provides DJ entertainment - we have Facebook page here - www.facebook.com/electricentertainment . Feel free to private message me for more info. I know we also have Cliff Matheson on these boards who is a fantastic videographer (I just worked with him this past weekend!). Hope that helps!
Sheri L. replied:
Sometimes the venue point person can act as your party planner. Chances are they have done Bar/Bat Mitzvahs each weekend and can make all the suggestions you need. One advantage to a party planner is that they can usually get better rates with vendors they use often.

Hi Allison Needleman Stein - My blog, FAVORITE THINGS - www.partyfavoritesblog.com features ideas and inspiration for special events such as mitzvahs and wedding. It is a fabulous resource especially if you are planning an event in the MD/DC/VA area. And, be sure to check out yesterday's post featuring "The Mitzvah Song". It is a humorous music video about mitzvah planning produced by one of this board's regulars, Sheri Wohl Lapidus .
