Loni F. replied:
Is Dr Catanzaro a regular MD, and does he take insurance? What does he specialize in? Do you think he knows how to treat toxic mold/mycotoxins and Lyme along with gene mutations? Also, Susan Howard, same questions Regarding Dr Rinde??? What type Dr, specialty etc? THANKS all!! ..Looking myself for same in Seattle area that treats all the above, and unfortunately I have no naturopathic coverage with Regence Medicare Advantage plan. It irks me that many of the low cost Obama care plans that some pay next to nothing for (government subsidized) have naturopathic coverage (in fact plans may be required to, I think by law), yet I pay a good amount for my insurance, ( & have paid 30 yrs into it) but the Medicare plans will not cover any naturopathic, acupuncture, or other "alternative medicine" care, & only in very limited cases, short term chiropractic. Seems quite discriminatory to me.

Lindsey Liguori, could you also tell me more about Paul Anderson clinic and what their expertise is? Haven't heard of them either.. Only know of Klinghardt, Marty Ross, David Buscher (mold), & some naturopathic groups as some of the better known. Wasn't sure if there was anyone around here that really had all the expertise or that I could afford to see. THANKS.
Juli P. replied:
Ben Lynch is great but he doesn't do consults and I traveled from LA to Seattle for 6 mos to see Dr Anderson I am MTHFR, CBS, COMT etc...I am a Nutritionist myself for 18 years and Dr Anderson did help me immensely with what turned out was Lyme and coinfections that were literally killing me. He did miss the mold that caused it all though even though I mentioned it. He does know his methylation. Dr Anderson is not taking new patients and when I was there last winter to summer he was gone a lot of the time. And I was paying to live there so it was a bit frustrating. But the IV protocols from Dr A saved my life. Dr Madison was not well versed in the SNP's when I was there. In fact Dr Anderson had told me she was running them through the support site and they never turned up for that appt. Maybe that has changed. She is a nice lady but she's young and not too long out of school (Bastyr) I didn't get anywhere with her personally. Dr Hetherington worked there at the time and he was great in my opinion. He is and ND and and RN. If I was living in Seattle again I would go to Bastyr Clinic and see one of the students/preceptors or NDs who work there. This is all new info so unless a Practitioner is going to classes taught by Ben Lynch, Dr Anderson, Dr Yasko etc.. or learning it at school or at the clinic there I don't think they will have this down. I've been studying it for over a year now and there is so much to learn to make it applicable to patients clinically. Ben Lynch's website is a great start if you can understand biochemistry.

THANKS, Juli Keene Padgett. I remember "talking" to you before on here. Problem is my memory is so affected now, I can't remember what you had told me before.. Had you also been seen at the Sophia clinic with Klinghardt or associates, or was that someone else? Remember talking w/someone who had moved up here for a while to see them. Didn't feel it was worth all the expense in the end. You're right, very complicated stuff!

No wonder she didn't have any price info on her site. I was wondering about that but figured I would look into it later. I am seeing a new functional medicine doctor tomorrow who is under our new insurance plan. I had MA Health which nobody worth seeing would take. Thankfully my husband just got a permanent job after being laid off almost 3 years ago and having unemployment and contract work since then. Trying to get back on our feet financially and get better at the same time.

Suzi Westby-Gibson Macdonald-Hi neighbor! Small world! I am over there in Newburyport all the time. Volunteer at Arrowhead Farm for a CSA share and have been seeing Dr. Dan Eyink(who got rid of my chronic Lyme and so many other issues). The functional medicine doctor I am seeing is at Visions Medical Center in Dedham, MA. Her name is Dr. Milanovic. I noticed in a newsletter that she went to one of Amy Yasko's seminars. She is on a youtube video talking about functional medicine as well so I thought I would give her a try since I need a primary doc for insurance. The other doctors in the practice have some experience in methylation issues but are not taking new patients. My old doctor left to go to Rothfeld Center in Waltham so I had to find a new one once I got off MA Health(Visions won't take it) and my husband found a permanent job with new insurance. I dread explaining everything to another new doctor, though, if you know what I mean.
