We're looking for an excellent ortho surgeon in So Cal. Someone who can do some knee reconstruction without botching it!! Any recommendations?
Tim W. replied:
Not sure if you want to consider my ortho surgeon as he's damn good when it comes to leg amputation. Actually he's pretty good and does a lot of knees. His name is Dr. Michael Tivnon, he's probably in his early 60's but probably has the biggest and most known orthopedic practice here in Bakersfield...If I needed my other leg to be cut off, I'd turn to him again w/out hesitation.

Dr. Merritt... did my grandmothers knee replacement and then I had my orthoscopy done... wonderful doc and I will have him do my other knee when it gets to that point.

Dr. Glenn Huber, torrance orthopedic off Madison in torrance. Did almost all of Kevin's and fix mine when it was shattered. Great work.
Heather K. replied:
Dr. Todd Shrader in Torrance, I think.

On the news just the other day, there was mention of a new treatment for bad knees - cartilage replacement that is glued to the joints. There's no need to cut any bones (there are problems that can develop when bone is cut - one being a fat embolism - which can be very dangerous.) With this new procedure, healing is said to be speedy with no down time. Sounds great, sorry I don't recall the details, but an internet search should come up with something. Hope they didn't forget to say it was only in the research stage, and not available in the US yet. Anyway, hope you find a skilled Dr. Good Luck!

Dr. Tivnon did a lousy job on my son's knee, he had to have a second surgery to clean up after the first one!
