Looking for vet recommendations right in or near Grandview Heights, for a small dog.
Steve R. replied:
Absolutely... Health & Harmony Animal Hospital!
Pamela B. replied:
We have taken our dogs to the VCA Animal Hospital at Mill Run forever. We especially like Dr. Jensen.
Jen M. replied:
Ripley Animal clinic - dr. Schuster and team are awesome. They are good with fitting you in on short notice for appts and meds. We have multiple pets that go there and never had a problem. Its also reasonably priced. (614) 294-3249

Re: Ripley Animal Clinic, as long as Dr. Ripley has retired and is no longer working there, it might be a fine place, however, years ago I used to go to Ripley when Wendy's Pampered Pets did grooming there (she has since moved to her own location on King due to Dr. Ripley's behavior). I witnessed Dr. Ripley beating a (small) dog who was in boarding and barking a lot when he didn't think anyone was in the office. He turned around and saw me with the fear of God in his eyes. Wendy talked to me later and confessed that Dr. R. needed to just retire as he was a different man than years ago. She said his behavior was the impetus for her move.
Also if you need a groomer Monas's Pet Salon on Fifth is amazing. I am super picky and was going to TLC in Clintonville. Mona has late evening appointment times which is great.
Kathryn N. replied:
While I will pitch Health & Harmony to you all day (lol), a lot of people from my adoption group love Linworth Animal Hospital in Worthington, so that might be worth a try.
Andrea J. replied:
Ripley Animal Clinic & Dr. Schuster are superb. My utmost recommendations for them. Dr. Ripley has been retired for at least a decade, Dr. Schuster is the not just most compassionate veterinarian I've ever met, but most compassionate doctor (including having worked in the medical profession).
Jen M. replied:
Ripleys animal clinic awesome, Dr. Ripley is not there anymore. We've never had a problem with Dr. Shuster and team – would not tolerate that if we had. Highly recommend them.
Kathryn N. replied:
They might be pricey compared to others (not sure what vet pricing is like in OH), but I will say that Dr. West is awesome about not doing procedures if she thinks they aren't worth the money, thoroughly discussing pricing options, etc. I always feel like she is looking out for us as a whole (pet healthwise, moneywise, peace of mind, etc.). When I got a quote for a dental for my cat, everything on it was in line with what I read was the safest way to put an animal under - I was really impressed.

Bonani R. replied:
Ripley animal clinic - Andrea Schuster and the entire staff are amazing with my dog.
We are getting a dog! Looking for recommendations for a veterinarian in GV. Will take all other puppy tips and advice too!
Pamela B. replied:
There are a lot of great vets in the area, lucky us! We take our fur babies to the VCA Mill Run Animal Hospital in Hilliard, where we also board them sometimes. Wonderful place. Ohio State Veterinary Clinic is also excellent.
Rosemary K. replied:
OSU Vet School Small Animal Clinic (as opposed to Big Animal Clinic which takes llamas, cows... not big dogs:) )
Catherine R. replied:
North Star Animal Hospital and Upper Arlington Animal Hospital. Highly recommend !
Bonani R. replied:
You’re getting a pup?!?! Hooray! We adore Andrea Schuster at Ripley Animal Clinic. I’ll text you the number too.
Ric F. replied:
We also recommend Andrea Schuster at Ripley Animal Clinic. Lots of Grandview people and pets go to her.
Norma S. replied:
Another Grandview favorite is Dr. Virgil McKee just north of 5 th, on Doten.
Margie R. replied:
I have 2 vets-Dr. Andrea Schuster who owns Ripley Animal Clinic has our 9 year old dog, Maisie and cared for our other two dogs, almost 15 and almost 12. She is absolutely wonderful, competent, but difficult to get into. Then, we take our 4 year old cat to Health and Harmony since when we found her, H and H had something to put on the cats claws instead of removing them. We are very satisfied with both.

Dr Mike reidelbach at grandview animal clinic on gview and first. Such an amazing clinic all around!
Tracy K. replied:
Odd question....does anyone know if Dr. Shuster is related to Dr. Ripley?
Maria C. replied:
Village Gate Animal hospital saved my dog's life. Many operations my 7lb dog has undergone there. They are awesome. I can't thank them enough for keeping my baby alive.
Norma S. replied:
I have gone for years to Dr. Virgil McKee on Doten, just above West 5th. 488-7939. He's more 'old-school' - he actually was a vet student of my father's (OSU Vet School). I've always liked him, and prices are reasonable.
Lori B. replied:
Dr Parsons at North star
Eric S. replied:
North Star is good. Dr. Parsons is awesome.
Kathryn G. replied:
I go to German Village Veterinary Hospital. Vet is a Grandview resident - Bridget Sarna. Office right on High Street, just south of Greenlawn. Not really far at all.
Margie R. replied:
Ripley Animal Clinic, 294 3249. Dr. Andrea Schuster is awesome.
Meredith K. replied:
Fifth and Kenny saved my cat- TWICE (when OSU ER told me there was nothing else to do but put him down). Dr. Custer & staff are amazing, been with them since at least 2009 with 5+ animals now.
Chris F. replied:
Ripley Animal Clinic - Dr Schuster. We love her.
Mindy S. replied:
We started going to Fifth and Kenny before we had kids and my kids are 26 and 27. We loved Dr. Miley and Dr. Jenny and now we love Dr. Custer.
Bim W. replied:
Virgil McKee.
Cortney F. replied:
I'll cast another vote for Fifth & Kenny, although they've already been mentioned a lot above. Everyone there is so nice and our dogs are actually excited when they see Dr. Jack. He gets down on the floor and loves on them and plays with them (the cats aren't as excited but then, they're cats - they don't do excited). They've also been great to work with when we've had chronically ill or aged pets and very compassionate when we had to put our 22 year old cat to sleep due to failing kidneys. I think the fact that she reached the grand old age of 22, most of it under their care, says a lot on its own.
Michael T. replied:
Ripley's animal clinic on Gerard. Mention us if they are not taking new patients. Dr Schuster is awesome. Hughes
Katie R. replied:
Grandview Animal Clinic on 1st. Dr Reidelbach is awesome!
Margie R. replied:
I think gets are so different than years ago. So much more personal, especially with the animals. Dr. Andrea Schuster kissed and accepts kissed from the animals, AND is competent and smart. She is also very reasonable. She doesn't have state of the art digs.
Julie W. replied:
Fifth & Kenny Vet - Dr. Jack Custer and staff are just the best.
Can anyone recommend a local vet that you use and trust. Our dog Lilly appears to have a swelling ear. Our vet on Kenny Rd can not see her today. Thank you for any help.
Lori H. replied:
We love Doc McKee. Great vet no nonsense 488-7939.
