Ed, it may be worth asking people here, or in Greenbelt's Unofficial GHI Group if anybody in the interior units has the mini-splits installed. It may be a matter of altering your doors (increasing the gap at the bottom for better air flow) and putting in ceiling fans to keep the air circulating.

Also we used Absolute Kitchens in beltsville and were really happy with the service and product. A little bit more money than IKEA but the quality is so much better. Plus they come put together! Oh and just an FYI- best time to do your kitchen is after the new year. Most contractors are slammed with work before the holidays.
