I am looking for a camp (or babysitting?) for my six year old son for the week of August 29th to September 2nd and can't find anything. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!
Hi everyone,
I have a question to ask. I've been looking into overnight camps for children with special needs such as Camp Kirk and Camp Kodiak. They are quite costly....

We love Rainbow Daycamp in Guelph. It is a day camp (9-5) so a different experience from an overnight camp. They do inclusion very well and provide a 1-1 worker for kids with special needs. I don't know how old your child is, but Rainbow is geared to kids ages 5-10 (in my opinion). They have a teen camp which is all special needs. It costs around $160 a week. Best of luck finding a great camp!

I've been told that Camp Belwood is great, but I'm not sure if someone who is autistic can attend or not (you'd have to call). Here's the website: http://www.belwoodlodgeandcamp.ca/index.asp

Their website says Camp Belwood takes children, youth and adults who are mentally challenged.
Looking for a gym! Looking for a gym to join, either monthly (preferred) or yearly. Been working out at home since moving to Guelph but looking to get back into the gym...

What gym is closet to you? Go with that one. Gyms are all the same. there individualistic, meaning you can do whatever you want at any gym. i would suggest get a phone app to help with personal training, since new people to the gym are very intimated and scared to try either machines or exercises for fear of looking like an idiot.

http://www.androidbodies.ca/ weightlifting gym, monthly rates, and a great trainer. Edit: Woodlawn road near Home Depot

If you're inclined to check out crossfit, I'd contact each of the gyms and see if you can drop in on a class (I would expect they all will provide a free class - I know for sure that GridIron does). IMO, the community at a crossfit gym makes or breaks it, so it's worth dropping in to check out the vibe. As for other gyms I've experienced in Guelph, Evo is good on the wallet, but I'm not sure I'd go outside of the staffed hours (particularly in the evening/night). The Y is alright, but you have to time your workouts in order to avoid peak times - last time I was there, they had 4 platforms + one smith machine.

Deep in the ward is [Vault Barbell Club](https://www.vaultbarbellclub.com/). This gym is a powerlifting first facility but has strongman, sport-specific athletes, bootcamps, olympic lifting, and members that joined before they ever touched a barbell. We are a super friendly, inclusive community of people with the goal of getting stronger. Open gym memberships starting at $45, cheap drop-ins and personal training available. On-site world-class RMT, ART, physio, chiro as well. Play your own music and bring your dog(s).

Movati out by the university is pretty good. They have free classes every day of the week for various training exercises. A little pricey, but it’s a large gym with a pool and ample selection of machines and free weights.
erWick replied:
I go to Movati, really nice but kinda expensive and the plates are octagonal which makes deadlifts awkward but they work if you keep the reps low and controlled

My gf and I just joined World Gym and it's nice, $10 a month too. Cant beat that!

I've checked out every Goodlife in town, no complaints. the one on Eramosa is one of the biggest ones I've ever been in.
I am looking for an overnight camp for a week for my 14 year old son in August. Any suggestions and/or recommendations?

Camp Brebeuf in Rockwood outside of Guelp
Sean O. replied:
There isn't a week in August that he can go in Belwood. He isn't old enough. Alix Oates. I phoned them and they wouldn't make an acception even though he goes to Cottage Crashers and he does very well with adults. He is also over six feet so he does blend

The last three years our ASD grandson has been a day camper at Camp Medeba in West Guilford. He's a day camper as we have a place just 5 minutes from the camp. He'll be going in August. Excellent camp.
