Any recommendations for ashtanga yoga teacher training courses with a distance learning element? Single working parent so need flexible childcare friendly teaching...

Abby Hoffmann, total negativity.. A trip to Mysore..it's not the real world for most people (ie children / money). I think SOME distance learning is ok. With Ashtanga you will need to do a practical training course..how about starting somewhere local to you, doing a teacher training course and build it from there. Good luck you will cross paths with negative teachers, it's not all Oms and chants xxxx

Norman Blair and Melanie Cooper run an astanga and yin training. Melanie also runs astanga trainings. John Scott teacher trains. But I agree with Abby. Apprenticeship is the way to go and then supplement with trainings.

Yoga London is a great course - I guest teach on it - but it's not an astanga teacher training, although the sequence taught is based on the primary series. Rebecca Ffrench, who runs it, is very clear about that.

Hi Ruth, a BWY TT course will only give you a general yoga teaching qualification. It will not offer Ashtanga training, neither will it qualify you to teach authentic Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Have you considered John Scott's teacher training, which is closely allied to Mysore, and has the benefit of being based in Europe. You could contact Scott Johnson at Stillpoint Yoga London to chat about this - he trained with John and Lucy Scott and now runs the SYL ashtanga yoga studio in London. But the BWY? No. It will take large chunk of your time - 3 years - an even larger chunk of your money - circa £3 k - and not take you any closer to your goal - teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

Ryan Spielman also does a TT...in London

Hiya. I'm a single mum too and I've just completed the one year programme at Yoga London. The course is run one weekend a month over 10 months. It's affordable because you can pay in instalments and also it's easier to find childcare for one weekend per month I found. Hope the helps. Oh and the teachers are fantastic x

distance learning as in??? Astanga (or any form of yoga really) tends to be very experiential and hands on.. in my experience, apprenticeship to a senior teacher is the only way to become an astanga teacher, trips to mysore and eventually an authorisation from AYRI... Brian Cooper runs a reputable astanga training, as does Joey miles I think.. but not sure of the distance learning bit... do you mean the homework or essay writing bit of the course?
I'm looking for early morning (pre 8am) yoga classes in Godalming or Guildford. I can see Red Hot Yoga in North Street do them, but they're really expensive. Does anyone...
