OMG Bridgette, MLD is so powerful, and it is so science based. Here is where I got my training. http://klosetraining.com/ They teach you how the lymphatic system works and have a proven method to speed up lymphatic drainage.

Bridgette, there is another step after the training I received. I am now a Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist. The next step is two more weeks of training which would teach me wrapping techniques and more. Those who pass this level of training are called Lymphodema Therapists. It is not something I would be interested in pursuing though. If someone came in with a lymph problem which required wrapping I would refer them out.

For edema, direct her here: http://www.vodderschool.com/find_a_therapist Regular massage won't help, she would need MLD and possibly compression. Swimming, yoga, walking, rebounding, abdominal breathing can help, but won't eliminate it. Sometimes what looks like adipose tissue is actually edema, especially in the abdomen, blaming things on weight is sometimes an easy way out. Going gluten free has also helped with abdominal edema with some of my clients, I would recommend reading the Wheat Belly Book.

I've been going to to Hillcrest Spinal Centre. http://hamiltonchiropractor.co.nz/our-chiropractors - Sarah Nelson is very good. I'm not sure about pregnancy backache, but worth a call I think.
