Sean Steyn and Linda Fussell my Boston Terriers used to wreck everything when I left the house because they were bored as hell and also because they were puppies. I buy them large beef bones at Supreme butchery in Chisi and every day I give them one and they LOVE them. This kept them busy for ages so there was no time to destroy shoes, pot plants, veranda furniture, poisonous beetles and garden tools. They require a lot of attention so I made sure I took them on a walk every day (luckily my house has a double fence and is a large property with a track so I release the hounds onto the tracks and walk while they sprint in circles at 600 miles an hour and get rid of all their energy! I also bought them a strong rope with hideous leering sausages on it which you can find at Avondale Vet for $15 and although it doesn't look like much by god when I taught them to play tug of war with each other it works a treat, they stay busy for ages. I also play tug of war with them most days. Desi Battigelli Hacker is right about attention. Dogs that want a lot of attention will do anything, so totally ignore bad behavior and rather do preventative things like: put your pot plants up or in a fenced off area, tie the curtains up where they can't be shredded, keep shoes in a cupboard - you will not have to do this forever!! It only took a few months of doing this and my youngest terrier has totally stopped destroying plants and shoes (she destroyed hundreds). The reason is because I made it unavailable to her she forgot how fun it was and when the pot plants came back down she'd forgotten that she use to entertain herself by eating them. You are also retraining their brain. My one terrier nips people's heels when they arrive - everyone except my mom and my maid. So now when I'm expecting visitors I put him on a leash and go with him to the gate to show him how to behave. It's all very positive, no shouting and smacking. He is nervous and doesn't know how to respond to his situation, so I'm showing him. I keep him from jumping and away from people's heels. He feels safe because I am calm and his response to people's arrival changes. Dogs do need to be taught behavior like their parents teach them normally. Since we are human parents and require different behaviors we have to show them. I think the biggest thing is over excitement which you can tone down by being present during those situations and showing him how to behave - lots of treats and praise when he gets it right, and the other biggest thing is boredom. The jack Russell he terrorizes may not (understandably) want to play with him so he entertains himself when he's lonely by destroying the world. So beef bones, toys, all the stuff Desi mentioned, teach him to play with those things and you should come right in a few months!!!

Hi. Try The Chisipite Vet trainer option, or https://www.facebook.com/KennelClubOfHarare/ They have obedience training every weekend. You have to foster a relationship with your dog and he has to learn to respect you... peeing on you is marking you as his territory, you need to let him know you are in charge. Having a trainer come in and teach your dog, will mean nothing if you don't know how to follow through. Owners also need to learn how to train their own dogs
