I’ve posted a bunch asking about doctors....New to area and my insurance sucks! I’m used to paying a gyn a $15 copay, now $95.
Wondering if I can find a pcp who...
Brandt B. replied:
I think Dr Rung at Cabarrus Family Medicine does but call to make sure. 704-455-6521
Linda D. replied:
All docs at Cabarrus family medicine do gyn appts. You can also try country doctors on 29A in Concord but it's self pay, they don't take insurance, but still cheaper in long run.
Michele U. replied:
I know Dr Blanks at Ardsley Internal on 49 does.
Tessie J. replied:

Alicia F. replied:
Leah's doctor is Dr. Abigail Myers, she is awesome!
Alexandra Y. replied:
I really liked Dr Rose for my kids, he understood my concerns about not giving the kids a boatload of shots at once. We moved or otherwise we would still go to him. Not thrilled with who we have now, but our insurance is extremely limited in where we go.
Walk-in medical clinic recommendations? Howdy folks- I got slammed with a double case of crap today; I lost my job AND I'm coming down with strep. I need to see a...
StretchinAZ replied:
Instead of heading to an urgent care, I would try an evening care facility, such as Pinnacle Health Family Care. They will have a rapid strep test onsite. http://www.pinnaclehealth.org/Locations---Directions/Emergency-Urgent-Care/Location-2.aspx It'll be a lot cheaper than urgent care. The RX they give you for strep should be taken to Wal-Mart for their four dollar formulary.
WendellX replied:
If you're in a tough bind, then Lion Care, near the Bethesda Mission, is available once a week. It's a free clinic run by medical students from Penn State, but under the supervision of a doctor. There are meds available too. If you need more info, let me know.
groovyfaery replied:
Patient first is good. In and out. They'll take a steep culture as soon as you say you think you have strep. I don't recommend getting your meds filled there because they are a little more than if you just take it to Walgreens.
lmm07468 replied:
I went to aspire urgent care a few times. They are in Harrisburg, just off 22 by el rodeo. They only charge $40 for people with no insurance ( there may be an extra fee for tests and of course meds). My friend went there from strep and the doctor didn't even make her do the culture, he said he could just tell and wrote the script. They don't fill prescriptions there though, so maybe like Walmart pharmacy?
minibabybuu replied:
urgent care n patient first. if you can, sign up for care credit, but be sure to pay that card off asap and close the account when its paid off. care credit is a method of payment for doctors n copays when you have no other money, they accept everyone. like i said before, be sure you can pay it off within about 2 months, their intrest rates suck, but it helps in a pinch. edit:oh and medexpress has a pharmacy in it, and the first trip there is only 100 and you can pay it off later. they also accept care credit, except I think you would need to have the actual card with you

If you're near Lancaster, South Duke Street Medical Center has adjustable billing for either free to whatever you can afford. Water Street has a free medical clinic that is very good as well (but you need to register). There is no shame in going to these places if you need to. Of course, there's the non-profit hospitals in the area too (Lancaster General for example). When I was under employed for a short time, they took my $1000 bill to less than $100 based upon finances.
OneLife77 replied:
The MinuteClinic at CVS in HBG or the Carlisle pike and you'll save a bunch of $ compared to urgent care or the ER
Anonymous replied:
Holy Spirit hospital is a non profit Organization that charges you by your income. I would head there.

All Better Care on the Carlisle Pike is excellent.
Do doctors still recommend that moms keep new babies in the house until they've had their first round of vaccs? I thought that was outdated advice... anyone?
Holly K. replied:
I think we stayed in much more with baby #1, but I wish I was able to just hang out with baby #2 and soak in all the babyness while I healed. As much as I tried, it was harder to slow down with baby #2 though I think. There are other benefits to "lying in" after baby is born. http://birthwithoutfearblog.com/.../
Ariel O. replied:
One of the LCs at Harrisburg Hospital suggested I not have any visitors for the first 6 weeks since I was struggling with Breastfeeding. It sounded crazy at the time, but I think it was a coded way of saying your family is not giving you the time and space to bond with your baby and rest. It is ok to tell them to go away.

Dr. Nuse at Rocky River Peds is our favorite, but like the others we have not had any problems with any of the doctors there. My son had a lot of medical problems when he was 2-3 years old. The doctors and nurses there called him by name when he came down the hall. They were great and really supportive! Plus they have extended their hours which has been a HUGE help.
